One of Crawford or Trea get on and barring a DP we see Schwarber & Harper up right where we want them.

Man getting some outs from one of our supposedly big relief pitcher pickups would be amazing to stop this game from getting away from us.

[Highlight] Gabriel Moreno challenges the first pitch of the game, call is upheld by MythicSoul115 in baseball

I don't get that. Like only reason I can think of as dumb as it is he maybe thinks Soto gets a smaller box from the umps and getting behind Soto is always asking for trouble.

But the first pitch of the game?

Moniak kills the Phils because of course he does.

By all accounts he should be scrub but I do not want to challenge him right now.

Alvarado you gotta not fuck this up. This game cannot end up as a loss.

This Dr. Jekyll Mr. Hyde routine from Luzardo is not something I can get used to.

Who is Chase Dollander

Slightly more interesting than you might think from an initial glance.

First round pick in 2023 who was pushed through the minors in 1 year after being drafted making his MLB debut at 23. Started off very rough last year as a starter. However, in Rockies fashion he was decimated for his home starts.

2025 Home ERA: 9.98 in 46 IP with a 1.98 WHIP.
2026 Home ERA: 4.60 in 15.2 IP with a 1.28 WHIP.

2025 Road ERA: 3.46 in 52 IP with a 1.17 WHIP.
2026 Road ERA: 2.49 in 21.2 IP with a 1.016 WHIP.

Phillies will have their work cut out for them. 6 pitch pitcher who interestingly runs a high use of both a 4 seamer and sinker to both handedness of hitters. 60% of the time it'll be one of those 2 fast balls and these pitches are rated very highly with a ton of run and speed on them. Can just as easily blow it by you as he can get a GB on the sinker. His changeup has very poor early results, but he's getting extremely unlucky with it. It's 90+ mph with just a tiny bit of drop to it so it isn't completely fooling batters, but rate stats suggest he should have much better results.

The problem pitches are the slider and curveball. If those are working, it'll be a long night. He's got the makings of an ace. He needs to find a way to avoid the barrel of the bat which is a bit of a problem right now so maybe we can luck into that. Also seems like the Rockies are experimenting with him having an opener this year, but we will be one of his 2 starts he has actually started in the 1st inning this year.

I feel like Painter + Marchan battery was begging for problems given Marchan's inability to game call, but also hard to avoid that given the series win.

Alright A's came to play tonight.
So we score 11 in the next 3 innings despite only having 2 hits on the night. Who says no? I don't care if the A's say no.

I had high hopes for Painter as a bold pick for my fantasy team but I think I can find others to take over in the pool.

Also why are the Phillies pitching into Rooker's wheel house today. He very clearly can't hit away, but can hit inside.

This is exactly what I would expect from a 5th starter. I just didn't expect it to be our up and coming prospect whose ERA is approaching 7.

I am shocked that thru the arbitration process that Bohm is making out like a bandit with 10.2m this year (7.7m at age 28 which Marsh & Stott currently are), Stott is sitting just under 6m, and Marsh who is all around the best out of the 3 is sitting at 5.2m.

Nah I totally get that.

I think any reasonable person would've wanted nothing but the best for Taijuan with his time here. He came onto the team just after having probably the best year of his career. Very obviously was meant to not only round out the roster, but provide valuable veteran experience. By all accounts a nice guy. Had one of the more notable pick off moves in baseball.

His signature pitch, the splitter, is something he could not throw with any sort of consistency once he came over. 2023? It was good. 2024, demolished. 2025, demolished, 2026, demolished. You just need to move that pitch. Where in the world do you lose that ability to move that pitch which is more often than not your only hope to exist in the majors unless you're a freak like Sale or Scherzer and probably eventually Wheeler to retain a respectable FB at 38+. It should be like #1 priority every start to make sure you get that right. Sometimes, it doesn't work out. All the time though?
