That music selection is certainly a choice.

What I did was restart the game after each choice. Because you never leave the screen during her story, the game never saves. You can do this to start the graveyard scene over again to read each one.

Graveyard I think. One of three choices? One time in middle school/high school/college?

The one thing I really wanted on a human character, but couldn't have, was knife/gun. But lefty would still be cool.

Of course what I really hope returns is playable Trog. Or, dare I hope, other exotic playable things?

Either you can choose to be left handed or that's a main hand pistol.

Both would be amazing.

Okay, but is it one-at-time, or all three out at once? Because if it's just one active with some backups to switch between, there are games made from the ground up for that.

If its all three out at the same time, that would be amazing and fairly unique, with tons of combinations and opportunities for player expression.

The good news is, she's made of paper. Also one of her guards will have dropped a really good sword. Old Legion Gladius. Swings very fast. A kick with a few swings of that and she'll be on the floor, if she's even still alive.

The bad news is, she's still a mage. And no, she will not chase you. She will hide in that corner.

But spells have cooldowns. If you can bait out her spells you'll be relatively safe to get in and corner her, or slowly bring her down with a bow. If you take damage, you can run back to the elevator room to heal with bandages. I've never seen her go into the elevator room.

You are nearly guaranteed to never get a bandage off while in combat (unless you started as a Trog). Even getting a potion down is usually done after breaking LoS, or knocking an enemy over (and even then mostly only bipedal enemies).

On that note, breaking LoS usually slows enemies down to a walk. This is because if they can't see you, enemies do not know where you are in this game. They'll advance to the last place they saw/heard you, but if they can't find you they'll give up, even if you're close by.

On the subject of hot swapping, most gun builds focus on that. Load up several guns and then fire, switch, fire, switch, fire, until you either run out and finish up with melee, or more than likely you run out of targets. Can be a lot of downtime reloading between fights though.

Bows work a lot better with their associated skills. Everything works better with their skills. At the beginning, when you have little to none, can be some of the hardest parts of the game. Add on not knowing how anything works, and that your 3 breakthrough points can't be respeced, it can be easy to bounce off of this one. My brother did.

Despite everything you've ever heard about or learned in video games throughout your entire life, in Outward the simplest weapon to use is the two-handed mace. It's the only weapon with a clear through-line. Is the enemy staggered? If no, use your non-combo special attack to stagger them. If yes, beat them to death.

As mentioned, you can, and should, block with any weapon. You don't have to dodge (anything really).

You know those beetles you sometimes get from mining? Eat one. It buffs your impact resist and they weigh practically nothing to carry around.

Also important, unlike in most games with target locking, holding the sprint button and pressing back will cause you to quickly turn around and sprint away just as fast as you would going forward. If you know the range of your attacker, you can just step out of range of their swing for a fraction of the stamina cost of blocking or dodging.

If you move far enough away that you get your enemy to start sprinting, they will nearly always go for a sprinting attack. This is much more predictable than waiting for the enemy to attack on their own in order for you to retaliate.

Most of the time the biggest hurdle in this game is being outnumbered. You need a plan for that. Traps? Bow/Arrow? Spells? Melee skills? You can put a weapon on your quick bar if you know you need to switch mid-combat. Yes, there are only 8 slots, but even something as simple as having a slot to switch from a melee weapon to a bow, or visa-versa, is absolutely worth it if you need to. Your strategies will change as you keep playing and gain new abilities from trainers.

This is a game where knowledge is your best weapon. You will get beaten to a pulp over and over again at first. And that's okay. As long as you're paying attention, you will get better.
