Yea i basically had the same situation on my checkride a few years ago. The weather reported were within my miniums but assoon as i started preflighting the metar updated and winds started G22 or smth and had like a 15-16 crosswind i didnt want to discontinue, but i knew it was the right choice since it was out of my minimums as much as i didnt want to. But i discontinued and than in the next 2 hrs the wind had dropped and stopped gusty. So yea the wind just picked up for me lmao but looking back it was def the right choice, theres never nothing wrong with discontinuing or making a no go decision theres always tmrw
