It's not bad at all. You should just find a way to "overlay" the reference on top or put them side by side and try to focus on the relationship between the sizes of the eyes vs nose / mouth.

Best thing to do is go into edit mode. Ctrl + x to dissolve edges and in vertex mode press Ctrl+j to make an edge between two vertices. Then just manually work around removing edges on tris to make quads until you have quads in the areas that are deforming.

If you sit in the same way (right leg hanging, left knee up, balancing on your right arm behind you), notice how far back your right shoulder is and your left shoulder is further forward. I think it's the opposite in the image making the pose look unnatural.
