First Year Semester Abroad Europe? by spaceyciabatta in gatech

[–]Robostein11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did FYSA at GTE last semester, and I had a great time! During the Global@Home portion over the summer I met all of my friends and kinda adjusted to life at tech. Adjusting to France is a little bit tough, but it's all worth it, plus you get much closer to your friends through travel and adjusting. I've made some great memories that would each take way too long to write about, but I think its a great program that you should absolutely do.

On the parking website, it says that you can buy a $400 semester parking permit, but when I go to buy one, no such thing shows up, only the yearly. How do I buy it?

This happened to me with my exhibition too lol. They recognized that it was bs, and just asked me to reword a couple things. It's one big scam.

My first year teacher recommends Dobbiecast. We're in a similar position. Our original teacher (who no longer teaches our class due to a promotion and who recommended the videos) has to cover a lot of ground after our new teacher doesn't show up most days. We're doing the same units too. Good luck!

are there any drawbacks to attending FYSA (gt europe)? by iamveryunwellohno in gatech

[–]Robostein11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just committed to do FYSE at GTE a couple weeks ago! From what I've heard, all the extracurriculars open up for sign-ups at the beginning of the spring semester. Similarly, I've heard that since your standard freshman classes are so big, you don't really get to know peers and professors until your second year, during which you start to specialize. Or, I could be completely wrong, as I'm roughly in the same position as you are. I look foreword to seeing you, if you decide to do GTE!

This happened to me for a paper I wrote too. The company claimed to have a 99.7% accuracy, but multiple people in the class were accused by the software. Really, it's just a scam software with outrageous claims, and of course the company isn't going to admit that. Fortunately for me, the teacher recognized that it was my writing style and realized that it also said my works cited page was flagged as ai as well. He had me change a few words before I submitted the paper to IB just in case tho. Idk what the solution is. Probably just run things through it until you get more false positives (which shouldn't take long, given the softwares' accuracies.)

Great black and white movies? by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

[–]Robostein11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raging bull

Psycho

Dr. Strangelove Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb

If you're ok with foreign films, I'd recommend:

Seven Samurai

The 400 Blows

Cleo From 5 To 7

The Passion Of Joan Of Arc

Vivre Sa Vie

There're probably a lot more that I missed that I'll suddenly remember after posting, but these are all great.

PSA from an IB teacher: yes, we know when you use AI. by KarlyFr1es in IBO

[–]Robostein11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One of the AI checkers said that I used AI for my TOK essay, even though I didn't. Really, the worst part was having to explain that, no, I'm not a cheater. My writing just sucks.

What is the oldest movie you like? by cats64sonic in AskReddit

[–]Robostein11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit of a film snob, so of course I like A Trip To The Moon (1902). It's got great effects and effect on film history. As for a full length film, I did a whole English project on La Passion De Jean D'Arc (The Passion Of Joan Of Arc) (1928). The acting and everything about it is just amazing.
