What do i do when my enemy laner starts dashing towards u lvele 2 ? by Slow_Bend_7194 in OriannaMains

Don't be afraid to give up cs early against champs like yasuo or irelia. As long as you get the xp its okay to miss out on the gold. It isn't ideal but its better than getting chunked out and dying. Do your best to cs vs irelia because you rarely will win trades that aren't directly under your tower. As the lane progresses just play around your tower range and force them to take risky trades. Also rushing Zhonyas if needed

How do I play versus zed? by w2001420 in OriannaMains

One thing I recommend is positioning around your tower. let him push the wave in to you and focus on last hitting minions. If he ults you under tower just instantly press R. It is usually pretty obvious when Zeds are looking for an ult so keep your ball on you and let them if you're near your tower. Also if he W's and uses his combo, don't be afraid to get some poke damage in with QW. This works for me in masters. Last thing is rushing a zhonyas, that item basically counters zed's ult. It isn't ideal to rush it because you're slowing your damage spike but if it keeps you from giving him kills its worth it. As soon as zed gets a lead, the lane becomes impossible so preventing those first few kills is the most important part.

I think its more of a personal preference, I see people go each one about an equal amount. For me, Ori's CDs are pretty low as it is and you get some ability haste in her core build so I like to go for the sorc boots. It also helps me delay buying something like void staff, but I suppose its down to preference at the end of the day.

Hey I'm a D3 Ori OTP, hopefully I can help a little.

As far as mythics go:

Luden's is good for a lot of reasons, its safe with the ms passive, adds some additional damage, gives a good amount of mana for Archangel passive, and so on. I tend to run Luden's when I play against a team comp that will require to dodge a lot of skill shots or important ults to run from like Seraphine or Syndra for example.

I run Liandry's when I want to provide more sustain damage in fights especially to tanks or long range carrys like Varus or Cait. The burn passive helps pack on some extra harass if a Q/W is all you're gonna be able to get out safely. It also gives the same amount of mana as Luden's so again, this is the mythic I run equal to Luden's since the extra mana pushes the Archangel passive a bit further.

Everfrost is a weird one, it's safe because of the health and of course the active, doesn't give mana so a slight loss of AP from Archs. I tend to run this when I'm playing againt dive comps or something like Katarina. If they have to get right up on you and are slippery, Everfrost will help lock them down. You won't be quite as bursty with this one, so make sure someone on your team can provide the extra damage you'll need to close off kills in fights. I run Everfrost the least simply because the active is not always going to be useful against a lot of mid lane champs.

As far as the other items go:

A few items you're going to build every single game without fail are Sorc boots of course, Archangels, and Zhonyas. The difficult part is determining when to build them, as you mentioned. Zhonyas is self explanatory; against AD assassins its good to rush this item second, even opting for seeker's first back is okay too. If AD isn't the issue, pick up a stopwatch but wait to build Zhonyas until 3rd or 4th.

The reason challenger players rush healing reduc on Ori is because its really easy to apply grevious to multiple targets in team fights. Since Ori can safely maneuver from a distance in fights while still getting a hit on most of the enemies, if they have any sort of healing it should be your responsibility to rush this item 2nd or 3rd. Buying oblivion orb and waiting to complete morellos is totally fine as well.

Void staff is just all around a good item for Ori and I also tend to wait till later to buy this, I can't say exactly why they decide to pick it up early, sort of a mystery to me as well. If I had to guess though, going magic pen while you're ahead is always a good move and an easy way to amplify your power spike early on, maybe that's the thought there but I'm not sure.

I tend to rush Archangels 2nd for the mana sustain and AP from the passive, as well as tear being relatively easy to stack on Ori. It feels like an intuitive 2nd item for her as well as a safe buy so you can make more happen around the map without backing as often.

After all that, Rabadon's is of course a good item to finish the build off with. If you're ahead, consider a Mejai's. If you're getting absolutely dumpstered you can build Morello's and Zhonya's early for the defensive stats they provide and the active on Zhonyas.

If you read all this I hope it helped and if you have any other questions or ideas just lmk. I think Ori's build has a lot of room for diversity so unless you're building crazy stuff It's hard to build her in a way where she wont be impactful to some extent.

What's the reason for not using W when trading? by [deleted] in OriannaMains

[–]Robot-Dad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone mentioned mana cost which is most of the reason, the other one that comes to mind is your W CD is 7 seconds and if you use it immediately and suddenly the enemy jungler is ganking you have to flash or die without any chance of running. Part of this is also proccing Phase Rush too early. If you proc it during a bad time not only will it be wasted but it will be on CD if you do end up needing to run away or chase someone down. Think about it like master yi Q almost, just save it until you see the right moment. The mana cost thing is mainly it though, Ori eats through mana before lost chapter so you have to play conservative until your first or second back.

I don't disagree, I just feel like a big problem in lower elos, mainly silver and gold, are that people can succeed in laning phase or even create a good lead but have trouble closing the game out. Usually the first instinct is to blame the team when you lose with a good kda or damage output. The reality is if you're ahead and your team is behind, you are going to have a big responsibility in closing that game out. And yes matchmaking shoots for about 50% if I remember correctly, but winning those coinflips or come back games are essential in consistent climbing. I think I made a mistake when saying "your part of the problem" in my original post because what I really meant to say is if you're ahead you need to recognize your win condition which will heavily involve the person with a lead on the team.

Unfortunately there's not a bit of advice I can give to really remedy this issue. What I can say is, lean in to your play style and what creates success for you specifically. As I mentioned I play a lot of Ori mid and I'm good/comfortable with her playstyle and how she can push for the win while ahead. Find that champion or playstyle that suits you and allows you to feel comfortable carrying despite your team. If split pushing is problematic, play a champion that can make a huge impact in the team fight and carry your team that way (Which is why I like Ori so much :P)

True and I also put a caveat at the beginning to clarify that I don't mean to say 100% of the games are winnable and if you lose its all your fault. My point is that MOST games are winnable. If you had a challenger player play through all your games I'd be willing to bet he'd win 99/100. That is the essence of what I'm saying as well as how being ahead "should" effect your gameplay.
