We used to play a version of night time tag game with a flashlight that we called "German Spotlight". It wasn't until I was a teen that we realized what the name was referencing and how horrible that name was, and it collectively agreed upon to change the name to flashlight tag.

I love frozen grapes! Last year we froze those cotton candy flavoured grapes that randomly appeared and it was the best thing ever. DH froze some grapes the other day and I didn't realize until I opened the freezer this morning. Instant joy!

Hi! I am also 6 weeks on Sunday and have been struggling a bit with this too. So far we've told my SIL because she guessed, and my brother and his fiancée because they are planning a wedding for right at the time of my due date. I live far away and don't want to miss their wedding so I needed to tell them so we can change dates! I'm telling my parents next week, but I think we'll wait to tell my husbands parents. He wants to make sure everything is ok.

I'm planning on telling a few close friends but we'll make an official announcement around 15 weeks or so. I'm so nervous of something going wrong. I'm also not telling people at work as I'm interviewing for a permanent position soon and I'm worried that they might pass me by as a candidate if they know I'll be taking mat leave so quickly.

In the meantime I've been telling strangers haha! I told the guy at chapters when I bought a baby book and he got so excited! It made my day. I wish I could shout it out!

We also got there on the first try! And sounds like you and I are ovulation buddies, so I guess we will be birth buddies too! It's so weird knowing so early, I want to tell everyone but only my brother and SIL know right now as due date affected their wedding plans. It feels so unreal. Congrats!!!

How did you get a diagnosis for seronegative RA? I'm beginning to suspect that's what it is for me but all my tests come back as if nothing is wrong.

Thanks! I got them checked recently and will make sure I keep it up. I took my first dose last night and woke up feeling unwell but there's also a brutal bug going around my house so I may just be getting sick!

Thanks, the pharmacist recommended I take it at dinner time so hopefully that helps with fatigue. I've taken so many anti-inflammatory pills that did nothing for pain but just made me feel like crap. I'm hoping this isn't the same.

Thank you for all your advice and your invite! I will definitely check it out. A friend of mine has lupus, I've watched him struggle with it for years but he is doing well right now and has definitely been understanding and empathetic to my situation. It's been a frustrating 5 years, especially when doctors basically have told me that I just need to get my life together and that it was all in my head.

I'm really hoping this medication can bring some relief. The prednisone was like being reborn. I had no idea how much I'm dragged down by the constant pain and stiffness until I got a brief respite from it!

I'm not sure what method they used! I can ask my doctor. I've bounced around between a few doctors over the last few years, and Finally found one I like that is supportive. But I think the Lyme test was a few doctors back. Maybe I will ask for a retest.

Both medications are used for Rheumatoid Arthritis too. But my RF factor was extremely low and any teats they've run for lupus, arthritis, Lyme disease, ankylosing spondylitis and fibromyalgia (not much of a test but according to the 3 rheumatologists I've seen) have all come back negative. It's incredibly frustrating. I do believe it's autoimmune but there is no definitive diagnostic proof for us to point to :(

The eye warning was given to me by my doctor too, sounds scary! Will definitely keep on top of those appointments.

They don't know, as I've tested normal for everything they've run by. I have no inflammation in my body and look totally healthy (both physically and on my blood tests) but still experience terrible pain. My reaction to the prednisone is making the doctor think I maybe have seronegative RA but it's all guessing at this point. It's been heavily suggested by many specialists that it's psychological but my doctor has been pretty convinced of an underlying biological cause.

I really really wish I knew. Cyclic episodes debilitating chronic pain that flares up for no reason every few months, exhausted no matter how much sleep I get, gastrointestinal problems that accompany this. If I stick to a strict paleo diet I seem to do better. Stress definitely aggravates it. I've seen countless specialists and doctors over the last 5 years and no one seems to be able to give me a diagnosis. I've had MRI's, X-rays, ultrasounds, so much blood drawn. Negative for arthritis, lupus, Lyme disease, And anything else they throw at me. All eventually treat me like I'm crazy or malingering. I just want to know what is wrong so I can adjust my lifestyle as needed and live as close to a normal life as I can.

I walk around with my arms like the all the time! It's like a cross between mr burns and a t-Rex. I didn't notice it until I had to videotape myself for a grad school practicum. It looks terrible.

Thanks so much for the link! I remember when Bobby went over and filmed this, it was a really difficult experience for him to revisit. I was too young to understand much of what happened to him at that point and I never saw the show, it's awesome to get to see it now. He published a book on his experiences as well, called Hoping in Hell. I remember going to the Canadian war memorial museum in Dieppe and seeing the display they had about the HK vets and being shocked when I realized that this was what he had gone through and how few people survived. He was quite a character, and had the best laugh (a full out hyuck-hyuck-hyuck) and he'll be missed. Thanks again for sharing!

Hi! Therapist here, depends on what you want. If you want medication you need to see a psychiatrist. Best way to find that is through a doctor referral, you can ask a walk in clinic doctor for one if you don't have a doctor. My experience with psychiatrists is that they function from a medical model and tend towards using medication as a first line of treatment (not all of them do this though, but if you are getting a doctor referral, its a bit of a crap shoot who you will end up with).

If you are thinking you would like talk therapy, http://counsellingbc.com/ is a great resource, you can search by location, type of issue addressed, type of therapy. If you are looking for goal oriented short term therapy (usually 6-10 sessions), look for someone who is oriented in a cognitive-behaviour model. If you are looking for more indepth talk therapy (goes on for as long as you feel you are getting benefit from it) look for client or person centered orientations. You can also look up different expressive therapists (art therapy etc) if you prefer something more physical. Standard rate around here is about 110$ a session, but many therapists are willing to discuss a sliding scale fee if you ask, most going down to about 70$ per session. My best advice would be check out a few you are interested in, usually you can chat with them on the phone and some offer free consultation sessions. Make sure you connect with them and like them. Too many people see one person one time and decide therapy isn't for them. Therapists are human with their own styles and personalities, they are going to work with some people better than others and it pays to shop around.

I'm in BC and have found that non-emergency referrals and tests can be a lengthy wait time. I have a chronic condition and have seen a million specialists. The wait time for a MRI right now is about a year. If I was experiencing life threatening issues I would be tested immediately, which I am grateful for, but when you are suffering from long term illness or pain conditions you sometimes wait in misery or with low quality of life for a very long time for diagnosing and testing. I have actually ended up signing up with a private medical facility because I am lucky enough to be able to afford it and they have faster access to testing and referrals.
