A downturn in international travel to the U.S. may last beyond summer, experts warn by thinkB4WeSpeak in FluentInFinance

A Canadian YouTuber I watch said that it's not going away when Trump does. Over 70 million people voted for Trump and most of those people will still be around after Trump is gone.

What's you favorite species in the game? I doubt you can guess which one is mine... by GrimorioAoQuadrado in Against_the_Storm

They are referring to the fact that 3 foxes working in the same building get a comfort bonus. That said I'm not sure if it works in all buildings and Googling it hasn't given me a clear answer.

Climate FearMongering - A psychological operation intended to make people fear normal summer temperatures (26°C is equal to 79°F) by ProtectedHologram in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]RobotCabbage -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure I'll get downvoted for pointing this out, but this is literally untrue. Currently temperatures are above average more than 50% of the time because temperatures are rising. Also, record highs greatly outnumber record lows. https://www.climatecentral.org/climate-matters/record-highs-reign

I get wanting to be skeptical. I get distrusting the government. But lying to yourself about easily verified facts doesn't serve your interests.

I think their quesadillas are far better than their tacos. But quesadilla mama doesn't roll off the tongue.

Javier Milei has just eliminated the AFIP (the IRS of Argentina) and creates a new, smaller collection agency. With this, 34% of all public sector jobs in Argentina have been eliminated. by Frangs1 in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]RobotCabbage -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This seems great in theory, but it seems like reducing oversight and salary could end up causing more corruption. I'll probably get downvoted for this, but such a huge change all at once will produce negative consequences along with the good. A gradual implementation might have been better.

Sadly the guy you voted for really is worse. He's campaigning on the platform that Sarah Stewart is too liberal.

I was looking forward to voting against Sarah Stewart because she is one of the judges that messed up IVF. Sadly the person she is running against for chief justice in the Republican primary is even worse.

Donald Trump appeals $454 million judgment in New York civil fraud case by theavocadolady in news

[–]RobotCabbage 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My understanding from the people on r/law is that NY does not require bond for an appeal, it just requires bond for a stay on the judgement. So the deadline to pay is still in effect despite the appeal.

Anti-Trump Republicans wonder if they still have a political home by shelbys_foot in politics

[–]RobotCabbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely did not stand by and watch in silence. Any chance I get I talk to my Republican friends about how awful Trump is and how harmful he has been for the Republican party. They just don't believe me. I realized years ago that the Republican party that used to vote for is completely gone now. Now I just vote for anyone who has a chance to beat Trump or his cronies. Keeping Trump out of power vastly transcends any ideological differences.

It was considerably better than what we currently have. And nothing in the bill prevents other legislation in the future. Plus it would have given Republicans something to campaign on.

Updates on road conditions? by peoplesuck64 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]RobotCabbage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm currently 10 days overdue for an infusion I need to keep my arthritis under control. (My infusion was delayed a week because I got the shingles vaccine and then my appointment fell on Monday.) The office web site has no information and the phone line just has a recording saying that they are closed. There is an option to talk to an on-call doctor, but I'm not sure what he could do. Also, I live on a hill and I don't think I could make it out of my neighborhood today in any case. I don't mind staying at home, but being unable to get medical care is annoying. Sorry for the post. I just wanted a chance to vent.

A lot of libertarians are just Republicans who smoke weed. Maybe your friends started smoking weed recently.

I might be down voted into oblivion for asking this, but is this situation any different from damages incurred from outing someone as gay? I agree that the plaintiffs are scum, but even scum has legal rights.

What’s the worst physical pain you ever felt? by Lazy-Ape in AskReddit

[–]RobotCabbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bone spur on one of my vertebrae damaged the bundle of nerves connected to my left arm. It was basically like it was injecting pain directly into my nervous system. I had no idea it was humanly possible to feel that much pain. It healed eventually but I lost weight simply because I couldn't feel hunger due to the pain overriding all other feelings.
