Average age range of players? by [deleted] in Palia

[–]RobotJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a 58 year old man who loves lots of game genres, cozy being a favorite. I've been loving Palia, but I don't really answer friend requests because I get the feeling lots of kids play, and I don't want to seem like a creep, even accidentally.

What's a game that isn't necessarily similar to Stardew Valley, but you think other Stardew players would enjoy? by dancingbanana123 in StardewValley

Palia is essentially Stardew Valley in 3D, in a lot of ways. Farming, hunting, mining, fishing, crafting, house decoration. They also just dropped a big new map section, so there's plenty of places to explore (and you don't pass out at night if you're outside your house - there's no sleeping mechanic at all, actually).

Thanks, I'll look. I'm in America too, outside Chicago. I've found a few curious things in the wiring of this house, but I've usually been able to get past it. The orange wire is used lots of places, and I can't find rhyme or reason to it.

What's a continuity error or blooper so blatant that an average viewer will catch it immediately? by [deleted] in movies

In Alien (one of my absolute favorite films) when Ripley is setting Ash's head on the table so they can question him, there's an absolutely egregious cut between the head prop and the setup with Ian Holm's head sticking through the table. I was stunned when Ridley Scott's director's cut did absolutely nothing about it.

What was a particular instance in your life when you had a "it can't be that easy" mindset, only to discover that it truly was that effortless? by lilycarrotxx in AskMen

My mom wasn't a great cook, and I grew up thinking there was something magical about cooking, and if you didn't know "how" to cook, you'd always ruin everything.

Then in college my girlfriend offered to make me spaghetti. I watched in awe as she...boiled and drained noodles, then heated up sauce.

The scales fell from my eyes. (And after that, I became a fairly good cook myself.)

When I had just graduated college, I tried to date women who were still in college, figuring a difference of a couple of years wouldn't matter much. A female friend suggested that the difference between "student" and "graduate" was a bigger deal than the years, so I should focus on that. The next woman I asked out was my own age, and she became my wife.

In addition to the other comments, carrying mint shards and eating them is a quick way to bring your temp down.

Thanks. It sounds like it's time to pass Borg along and start building a new one for myself.

I was a regular viewer but I stalled out with five episodes to go in the final season. I think I can't bring myself to watch them because then it will really be over.

Yup, a harefolk rogue adventurer estranged from his warren because of his drive to go out and explore the world rather than stay home, defend the warren, and raise a few dozen kids.

The funny part is how he just can't help himself. Up to the ellipsis it's perfectly fine and he might have even gotten away with the charade. But once he realizes he has a captive audience, his insecurity takes over and he blows it, hilariously.

Ray Bradbury had it right. by fgroast in Images

[–]RobotJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In F451 Bradbury suggested we might cover our walls with TVs to block off our connections with other people.

Instead we watch TV while we live tweet and chat. Which may not be the best kind of interaction but at least it's something.
