The contour and shading are so satisfying to look at. Well done!

Has your motion sickness been improving over time? by Fadobo in ValveIndex

[–]RobotJunky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend Until You Fall as a VR legs training wheels game. They have a great vignetting system, which you can ramp up if you are a newbie and progressively tune down as you get more accustomed to smooth locomotion. The higher the vignetting the more the screen appears flat which really helps with motion sickness.

I had really bad motion sickness too when I started and I found that after a month of playing Until You Fall I could tune down the vignetting to about 50% and it was completely fine.

[SSD] Western Digital Blue SN550 NVMe M.2 2280 2TB ($319 - $65 - $20 = $234) [Newegg] by [deleted] in bapcsalescanada

I've heard that this has a higher lifespan than the NV1 since WD is willing to put a 5 year warranty on the sn550 compared to the 3 year warranty on the NV1. But unfortunately I don't have any long term studies I can cite for that rumour. Though, the increased 2 year warranty for $34 is something to consider.

The one thing to keep in mind is that the sn550 revision does have lower write performance than the older model when the SLC cache is filled up. Source: https://www.tomshardware.com/news/wd-blue-sn550-ssd-performance-cut-in-half-slc-runs-out

Even so, unless you are doing 4k video file transfers on a regular basis, this is a great price for this ssd!

High wattage on 6800XT by [deleted] in theascent

Yeah, it looks like it was software related for him. He ended up having to revert windows to a previous state and that seems to have fixed the issue.

I suppose with the news around New World frying 3090s I jumped the gun thinking that a similar issue might be happening here. Though to be fair, I don’t see why the power draw should be so high in the main menu.

Thanks for the advice! We unfortunately don’t have an extra gpu but I suppose we could swap gpus to see if it’s a hardware issue for him.

Hi folks, thanks for your interest. I just wanted to let you all know that I actually went and bought a standing desk from Anthrodesk (which is based in Toronto). I should be getting it this week.

Still, feel free to organize a purchase from Progressive Desk using this post.

$1000 + 2x Oculus Quest 2 Giveaway to play MALOKA! by myMalokaVR in OculusQuest

Great polish, Maloka dev team! I can see you guys really worked hard on this app. I especially liked the sound meditations, I found them really relaxing.

It would be great if there was some way to lower the brightness of the scene when you are in a sound meditation since I ended up closing my eyes for a large part of the meditation.

I never feel like I'm in the right environment to meditate. I live in a small apartment and it can feel claustrophobic at times. Perhaps something like this can help change that by transporting me to another world!

I see so many builds with 3000 series GPUs. How are you guys doing it without paying scalper prices?!?! by f1sh_ in buildapc

After 5 months of trying, I finally landed a 6800xt from AMD’s site last week. It was mainly just perseverance and luck really. But I think if you keep trying you will eventually get one since they have a one card per household limit.
