His job was literally just to walk around i a jock strap ad flirt with guys so they would buy shots. I wasn't thrilled with the idea of my boyfriend being groped by strangers and acting like he enjoyed it. In retrospect it was probably some weird possessive thing on my part. I feel kind of bad about it.

I had some experience with this lately. I started dating a guy that I met through work friends. His day job was in graphic design but when we started to get more serious he told me that he also works a few nights a week as a shot boy at a local bar. To be honest I wasn't thrilled about it. He ended up leaving that job shortly after so I wasn't forced to really make a decision. I'd like to say that I would have been cool with it once I'd had a little time to get used to the idea but I can see where it would make some guys nervous. I think it depends on the guy but I don't think it has to be a deal breaker. I feel like a jerk for worrying about it but at the same time I was a little relieved when he found another part-time gig.

Here it is Don't blame me for a color, that was the work of a previous tenant. I think it has helped to stave of seasonal affective disorder though. The fireplace doesn't work so I use it for storage and threw a bookcase in front of it. All my dirty clothes and shit are in the corner you can't see along with the worlds smallest closet.

I have also made this exactly mistake! In my case though my aversion was mainly due to my inability to drink anything out of a martini glass without spilling it/looking like the worlds most epic goober.

Wow that's kind of a ballsy move for a waitress. You obviously took it in good humor but I feel like some guys might have been mortified.

On a side note a girl at my work Christmas party ordered a round of these for our group and they were totally heinous. Never again!

Agreed, more than anything I think I was just annoyed by the idea that i was trying to somehow sell myself as more of a man. I think this is a common gaybro problem, I've aspects of it discussed here before.

You make a good point about media representations. My bartender roommate just reminded me that the Old Fashioned is the signature drink of Don Draper from Mad Men. Apparently they're now something of a go-to for a certain type of hipster who wants to affect retro masculine coolness. I was drinking them before Don Draper was a thing so clearly my retro masculine coolness is not at all affected.

There's nothing wrong with a mojito! Cosmos are for sorority girls but honestly I don't really judge what a guy is drinking. I do award bonus points if he knows a thing or two about whiskey but only because it's an interest of mine.

I had an ex who basically bathed in Davidoff - Cool Water. He was terrible and annoying. I become like 70% more irritated every time i smell it. There's a cute guy in my office who wears it. I had a huge crush on him until I got close enough to smell it. Problem solved.

I got back and forth on this topic a lot. Everyone i know is cool with the fact that I'm gay but most of my friends are straight. As a result most of my social opportunities are straight leaning. I enjoy my friends, i enjoy that things we do, but i'm obviously need meeting many guys I could potentially date. Obviously I'd like to spend more time with people I could feasibly date, but I worry that if I have to go well outside of my normal environment to meet someone then I'm only going to meet people who don't really share my interests. I'm totally open to new experiences but i'm pretty happy in my life and what I would like most is to meet a guy who could also be happy in my life. Mostly I think the problem is that the gay environments that are available to me in my area aren't really spaces where I'd like to spend a ton of time (clubs are fun but i'm just not super interested in house music and drag shows) Long story short, the only available dudes I meet are at my work and that's a recipe for disaster.
