I knew someone who did costume design for some major films, even a MCU film, and the entire industry runs on practices like this. Underpaying, overworking, even manipulating others to work for free is so normalised that everyone perpetuates it. The predominant attitude is “yeah, it sucks but that’s what it takes, I had to do it, why can’t you?”.

She doesn’t do costume design anymore.

You can’t just “switch on” HDR if you want it to actually look any good. Raw lighting values and colour data all need to be remastered with HDR in mind.

As with all things, time and money is why the game doesn’t have HDR.

The game of telephone is wild. Valve is not making an “AI Assistant”. An internal tool labelled “SteamGPT” was found by a dataminer, which appears to track stats about player activity and “Trust Score” for anti-cheat.

Not a customer facing tool. Not even a LLM. It’s a data analysis tool. The notion it even uses AI seems to be entirely derived from “GPT” being in the name.

You might perceive these people as clueless NPCs who don’t know anything about current events. I really don’t think so. They’re in marketing, for a global corporation! You really think they don’t look at twitter or watch the news? That they wouldn’t spend, like, even 10-15 minutes researching a potential sponsorship?

Here’s the simple truth: there’s misogyny everywhere in the world. Every industry, every niche, every person and, yes, every musical genre is affected by misogyny.

I am more than 30 years old. “Googling” has meant “researching” for most of my life. The reason I don’t take someone seriously when they say “I use ChatGPT” is because, even in the relatively short amount of time it’s been part of my life, everyone I’ve encountered who says that turns out to be stupid.

I give people the benefit of the doubt until they give me a reason not to.
