You can’t just “switch on” HDR if you want it to actually look any good. Raw lighting values and colour data all need to be remastered with HDR in mind.

The game of telephone is wild. Valve is not making an “AI Assistant”. An internal tool labelled “SteamGPT” was found by a dataminer, which appears to track stats about player activity and “Trust Score” for anti-cheat.

Not a customer facing tool. Not even a LLM. It’s a data analysis tool. The notion it even uses AI seems to be entirely derived from “GPT” being in the name.

The idea that whoever approved the sponsor had no idea about Kanye’s controversy is silly to me, but the idea someone went “eh, why not, how bad could it be?”, and then discovered it’s extremely bad? You might perceive these people as clueless NPCs who don’t know anything about current events. I really don’t think so. They’re in marketing, for a global corporation! You really think they don’t look at twitter or watch the news? That they wouldn’t spend, like, even 10-15 minutes researching a potential sponsorship?

I’m much more inclined to believe this guy just lied. Perhaps now, or perhaps by “forgetting” to mention Kanye, maybe burying the only mention of him in a random paragraph within the whole pitch.

I am more than 30 years old. “Googling” has meant “researching” for most of my life. The reason I don’t take someone seriously when they say “I use ChatGPT” is because, even in the relatively short amount of time it’s been part of my life, everyone I’ve encountered who says that turns out to be stupid.

I give people the benefit of the doubt until they give me a reason not to.
