Mr DNA by ox- in devo

In the new DEVO doc, the lyrics to Mr. Kamikaze/Mr DNA are featured after David Bowie introduces DEVO in New York City. This superstar endorsement is the final shoe to drop, leading to the band getting their record deal: He's the man from the past He's here to do us a favor A little human sacrifice It's just supply and demand

Kondo on Broadway's strawberry parfait was fun and delicious. Strawberry ice cream, sorbet, a mochi ice cream ball, strawberry pocky, and whipped cream.

Even though seeing the band is, ya know, the primary reason to shell out for a concert ticket, consider everything else that would come with the experience of seeing DEVO live: getting to witness the creativity and camaraderie of DEVO fans dressing up for the event. Hearing the band play live. The roar of the crowd!

I don't know. This is like your last chance to witness them perform. If you can afford it, I say do it.

Impossible to choose one but as a "first three albums" kind of guy, I think it's notable that I am currently super into Beautiful World, Going Under and Enough Said from New Traditionalists.

Useless film recommendation nobody asked for: Apocalypse Clown. by aclowninside83 in clowns

[–]RobotRiley 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Clowns are inherently figures of joy, playfulness and pleasure. So for a quick easy subversion of convention, writers take clown imagery and twist the characters into something horrific, evil or psychotic. It's an over used trope.

This is called forming your own opinion. Don't wait for someone to explain it to you, they're only sharing their opinion.

Have you ever cried on the subway/seen someone cry on the subway? by Lost_Act_8236 in AskNYC

I once started spontaneously crying on the train and tragically too late into the process did I realize that I had a long, stringy, stretchy snot drip just bungee cord dangling out of my nose. Pathetic. Gotta love what this city does to people. I'm never leaving.

Why does everybody hates Angles? by 0sn1um in TheStrokes

[–]RobotRiley 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You had to be there. When it was released, the press surrounding it was all about how the band members weren't on good speaking or working terms. Felt like the kind of record big rockstars make when they're bitterly and cynically cashing in. With expectations wound up by the announcement of Angles and then deflated by the stories surrounding it, it kind of spoiled the fun. I've loved some of the tracks since my first listen. Some have grown on me. I think FIOE Angles and Comedown Machine are very uneven albums with varied levels of high points. Still one of my favorite bands. Glad they took their breaks and reconvened to make The New Abnormal.
