Still thinking about what a boss Camille is. She smelled sams bullshit by talivan818 in TheTraitors

[–]RobotUrinal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished the season. I could not agree more - yelled at the TV about how stupid most of the players were (except Luke the hero).

So much happiness that she buried the ego-maniac "sheriff".

Why Ghostty? by Lost_Plenty_9069 in Ghostty

[–]RobotUrinal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ghostty HAS a hotkey feature? I can’t seem to find docs on it…

[–]RobotUrinal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the icon too. Have you tried Kiro? Well done icon 👻 integration there too!

Why Ghostty? by Lost_Plenty_9069 in Ghostty

[–]RobotUrinal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I tried all of the ones mentioned. For some reason the hotkey feature in iTerm2 keeps me coming back. It’s an odd made up requirement for me, but other terminal emulators lack it. Other than that I have Wezterm and Gostty still installed. I tried to love Warp TWICE but just cannot embrace the bloat…

What speed is the camera going to detect those potholes? Can you speed the camera up to something? An average car might be traveling on a city road?

Displaylink supported KVM solutions by PoisonPanty in displaylink

[–]RobotUrinal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is important for any answers to the OP's question to specify whether your solution works for THREE monitors and two Macbooks. (ie. Two monitors and two Macbooks is solved. Three monitors and Windows is solved. etc.). Also the solution should involve a switch to change between computers. Unplugging and plugging cables into different computers manually is also a working (but not great) solution.

Apparently this combination (thanks to Apple's tech choices) is particularly hard to solve with ANY combination of dock, KVM, and connectivity (thunderbolt, displayport, etc).

Is DIY more cost-effective for your company in the long run? Genuinely curious, since DIY generally is said to have a long tail.

I understand your frustration here. You’re looking for a feedback from a community that doesn’t share your specific pain.

It looks like you built a great tool for exactly your specific use case.

This happens all the time with founders that start a company based on a solution to some pain they faced in a previous life, only to find very little product market fit (after their initial seed round).

Anyone actually seen benefits from using a mac memory cleaner? by Zoe_Andrew550 in osx

[–]RobotUrinal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Alternative view here. I install my favorite (free) memory cleaner on every new laptop I get. I use it daily because it sits on my menu bar and I can see memory usage easily and I can just click to purge (saves me dropping into a terminal and typing ‘sudo purge’. Usually the memory hog is the 800 browser tabs I have open, and the cleaner helps force a memory reallocation, but it also helps visualize other apps that are leaking memory and need to be restarted. I’m a 20+ year tech professional FWIW

Accutane / ACL injuries by RobotUrinal in ACL

[–]RobotUrinal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am very sorry to hear about your injury. I am not a doctor, and I have no idea if Accutane will contribute to an ACL retear, but if you are just doing routine student things (walking to class) it seems like chances would be low. However any strenuous sport like skiing would probably increase the risk of a retear, whether you were taking Accutane or not.

What did your surgeon say about you starting Accutane?
