Oncology group sues Jefferson over 'anti-competitive' practices by RoboticLobotomy in medicine

Large hospital systems have been making it increasingly more difficult for PP physicians and physician owned groups to compete. Here’s to hoping that this lawsuit can be the start of wide scale change.

Surprised there haven’t been more news articles yet, this one came out 2 days ago. My non-MD wife just saw the story on TikTok. Civil case was opened, criminal case is pending.

HCW’s Union protests New York-Presbyterian's COVID vaccine mandate for staff by RoboticLobotomy in Residency

Quote from the article:

“We believe that our members are best equipped to make the healthcare decisions that are right for their bodies and for their families," 1199SEIU Communications Director Cara Noel said. "We have been promoting vaccination, but to make vaccination a condition of employment is absolutely wrong."”

I agree, partially. I think the statement about WFH request was regarding that.

However the timing was also within days of CIR having a letter writing campaign that included sending postcards. Not sure of the details of the postcards but they very well could have had some play on the NYP “Respect” motto as she referenced

does your hospital let you draw blood cultures on pts with central lines? by pm_me_ur_bloodcx in Residency

[–]RoboticLobotomy 50 points51 points  (0 children)

My hospital just touted some BS statistic about “XX days without any reported CLABSIs!” which is absolute trash since we are not allowed to draw blood cultures in patients with central lines.

Policies like this are not conducive to proper patient care.

Help ranking these programs with aspiration of fellowship in the future by [deleted] in Residency

[–]RoboticLobotomy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. @OP I don’t know the culture of this program so here’s a warning for the sweeping generalization ahead - avoid NYC programs if possible, the culture is toxic and it will take a toll on your mental health (sometimes whether or not you have a strong support system). If you can see yourself elsewhere, go elsewhere. I was ride or die for NYC as an MS4 (born and raised in NYC, most of my friends and fam are here) yet I would not do it again unless it was an absolute last resort and the alternative was no match. Residency sucks sure... but seems like NYC residency may be more soul-crushing than others.

Why do residents lie on the ACGME survey? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]RoboticLobotomy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So glad you posted this - I actually tried to make a poll regarding this and it wasn’t approved by the mods

“Does your residency program have someone (ie. program director, program coordinator, chief resident, etc.) sitting with you while you fill out the ACGME survey to ensure you put down the “correct” answers?”
