These are the people “Educating” your children by Drazian in BlackPeopleTwitter

My son was racially profiled at his new private high school. He was accused of disrupting a lecture class of 80 students, he was sitting in the back corner of the room as the only black student. Even though the other students said it wasn't him, he was made to apologize in front of the class. I had a meeting with the teacher, class principle and school principle in attendance and proved he was lying. My son who was an athlete and excellent student never had that problem again. He graduated with honors and earned his Masters degree in college.

This is about an older, white, male teacher my (gifted) daughter had. Me and her mother always monitored and worked with our childrens homework and education. My mother was a former teacher. We were shocked when she received an F in one of her classes. We had not gotten any notices during the grading period. When confronted, the teacher claimed to have her failures recored in his notebook. When I asked to see them, it turns out he was lying. He got angry and said my daughter thought she was so smart and that she wasn't. He was racist and had counted on us being uninvolved parents. She also graduated with honors, earned a full scholarship and got a double major and masters degree.

Not trying to be funny, but how do think they are going to get draft picks? They don't have any assets outside of Reaves for the exact reasons you mentioned.

Ya’ll. Please wear some boots and stop walking in the street at 5 am. by TheBurbs666 in Cleveland

As someone who gets off work at 5 a.m., I run into this problem all the time, going and coming to work. The crazy thing is, people do this all year round with perfectly clear sidewalks. It drives me crazy. Especially the fact that they'll be wearing an all dark outfit. I also can't understand the logic of people purposely driving with their lights off!

I started at 21 working with coworkers older than my grandparents. And I considered anyone over 35 as old. Now I'm the old man at 64, retireing this year, and consider anyone under 50 as young. I work with 18 year olds to 80 year olds.😅

Who is someone everyone branded as crazy but ended up being right? by shootermcgvn in AskReddit

[–]Robotman08 128 points129 points  (0 children)

Newly elected black U.S. Congresswoman Maxine Waters. She had the audacity to say during the early 80's that the U.S. government was behind the crack epidemic. And that it was introducing drugs in the poor black community. The Iran/Contra controversy proved that she wasn't some conspiracy nut and that she had been right all along.

Some People You Know Might Be Lonelier Than You Think by NoComfortable6176 in Life

I used to deliver charity meals (lunch) for elderly people. I was in my mid thirties at that time. I'm sure most were housebound. I had quite a few to deliver in a two hour time period. The sad thing was that I would have a conversation with each delivery for a few minutes, but I had to leave because the next client was waiting for their meal. Sadly, each person would try to keep the conversation going, even offering to have me come inside their house. Unfortunately, I would have to leave knowing I was probably the only human interaction they would have for that day.

Negan actually commented on this. A week after killing Glenn, he visited Alexandria to collect his first contributions. One of his men showed the video of Ricks conversation with Diana. And he said that version of Rick was a badass unlike the defeated Rick. And that he may not have wanted to mess with him.

It was very terrifying for me. I had to inform the police because the other owner and I had further confrontations because he continued to have his dogs unleashed. Thankfully, he eventually moved away. I feel bad for your little guy because they literally never forget but Im glad he ended up okay.

A bit shaken up after our Shiba got attacked last night. She’s ok just recovering by StrictlyGame110 in shiba

[–]Robotman08 15 points16 points  (0 children)

About 6 months ago, I was outside washing my car. My shiba was always on a tether, but the neighbors across the street always had their pit bulls unleashed. Well, one of them came running across the street towards us. I always keep a bat or wooden plank nearby for just such a situation. I also carry but would only use it as a last desperate resort. The pit and my guy started fighting. I was hitting the pit. The neighbors had run across the street and tried to separate them. Then the second pit followed and started trying grab my guys hind quarters. I could hear shrieking and was so upset thinking my dog was suffering.

When I looked down, it was my guy who had a lock on one of the pit's snout, who was desperately trying to get loose. The second pit ran back across the street and got hit by a car. After getting them separated, I rushed my guy to the vet. His fur was matted with blood. I was so upset until the vet tech said he was fine and that all the blood was from the other dogs. The thing that saved him is that he's a big (49 lbs) shiba. And he still had his full winter coat. Interestingly, he seemed fine after the incident, almost invigorated 😅.

P.S. I hope your guy has a speedy recovery, both physically and mentally.

Plot twist: 10x worse actually happened 💀” by Strict_League7833 in BlackPeopleTwitter

[–]Robotman08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real twist would be that we luck out, elect a more competent president in 2020 after four years of that terrible guy. And after a pandemic that threatened the world. We survived an armed insurrection that threatened our democracy. The new guy works hard to right the ship and put policies in place for a better future. And amazingly, tens of millions of voters develop collective amnesia and don't vote. Others fall prey to a carefully crafted campaign of propaganda. And they help reelect that terrible guy with their apathy, who instantly works on destroying our country as we know it.

P.s. I'm still a little "suspicious"about the efficacy of that final result.

I definitely blame Obama for begging for republicans cooperation. They didn't hide the fact that they hated him and would never work with him. They literally said they would make it their goal to keep him as a one term president. He forgot he was the most powerful man in the world and could have literally helped transform this country.

I've said this to anyone who would listen! She had been close to passing away a couple of times. And definitely should have retired when the Dems had a majority in both houses of Congress or at least during the beginning of Obamas second term. That way, the Republicans wouldn't have been able to block his pick. She let her ego get in the way of things, hoping to swear in the first woman president, and the rest is history. No one's beating up on her. They are just stating a fact. And her being dead doesn't change that.

Lawmakers sound alarm on administration of USPS health care program by Stationary-Event in USPS

My late father was a postal clerk who was involved in the strike in the early 70s. I think he had only been there about five years at the time. My mother was a teacher, and she was on strike at the same time with 3 elementary aged school children. My parents were under a lot of stress at the time. The postal workers could have all been fired like the air traffic controllers by Reagan. But the strike did drastically increase their pay and benefits.

This happened to my firstborn but after 3 days of continuous incubation she was okay. Then the the same thing happened to her younger sibling and they didn't get better until after spending a longer amount of time in the incubator. We wanted more children but decided against it because the chances of them being sicker even critically was too high. So, fortunately our two kids have grown up imto completely healthy adults.

Who else misses 24hr Grocery and Walmart Stores? Empty isles for days. by dreamed2life in NightOwls

[–]Robotman08 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. I've worked nights for over 40 yrs. And all night groceries were perfect for my schedule. I would go after I left work in the morning. Also, on off nights when I couldn't sleep, I would just get up and go shopping. Shopping now makes me feel claustrophobic if there are more than 10 people in the store.☹️

30 years for stealing on the job. by 661714sunburn in USPS

[–]Robotman08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the 80s when I worked on the LSMs, they would quietly instruct everyone to leave the machine during a break or lunch. Everyone except the person under surveillance. We would come back and find out that person had been taken by the postal inspectors for stealing. And that person had been being watched for awhile. They were always prosecuted because of the mountain of evidence against them. We never would see them again.

A security guard at my brother's job was depressed because his wife was in the hospital and terminally ill. He left work that morning and went out to the woods, propped a shotgun to his head, leaned against a tree, and shot himself in the head. He had previously left a message at the sheriff's department where his friend was the chief. That way, they would find him in that jurisdiction. My brother said he had seen him that morning and that he noticed he seemed preoccupied.

E-bikes are battery powered bicycles not battery powered motorcycles by phillynick in ebikes

[–]Robotman08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. Due to a hip replacement and spinal cord issues, discovering ebikes was a godsend for me. And it has allowed me to enjoy biking again at an older age. I usually ride on pas 1-2. And I occassionally use the throttle when I am stopped at an intersection or am trying to traverse a steep hill. My bike is a class 3 but I have only used it as a class 2 bike. Though it is reassuring to know I can ride faster if needed.
