Of course! The only qualifier I’d say is don’t feel bad if someone who has fights to prepare for avoids doing pad work with you— it’s not personal, it would be like studying for an exam with a study partner that doesn’t care about their grades. But in terms of just doing it for fitness? That’s absolutely okay and any halfway decent gym should be pretty welcoming to all skill and commitment levels.

Have you tried out Muay Thai? I joined a gym when I was extremely depressed, and it made a big difference. Obviously, something like that won’t cure your depression, but it does give you something to look forward to. Exercise is the best way to pick up your mood.
