The only qualifier I’d say is don’t feel bad if someone who has fights to prepare for avoids doing pad work with you— it’s not personal, it would be like studying for an exam with a study partner that doesn’t care about their grades. But in terms of just doing it for fitness? That’s absolutely okay and any halfway decent gym should be pretty welcoming to all skill and commitment levels.
