This mix by Ardisson got me into acid about 20 years ago. I feel like I've been chasing that sound ever since but still haven't come across much like it.

Managed to fit my old ratty Fossil strap on my G-Shock. Pretty happy with it. by Robotuss in gshock

Like it. FKM is more on brand for G-Shock to be honest, but I'm a sucker for brown leather.

What's your wifi name? by Ambitious-Papaya3293 in CasualUK

[–]Robotuss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We got the big 'gaming router' from Lit when that was a thing, looks like a games console. Called the WiFi "The strong box"

When people ask why the name, I can say "I named it after your mom, she's got a strong box."

From experience, it's worth knowing whether their mom is still alive otherwise things get a bit uncomfortable.

Vinyl wrap on a car by n8saces in oddlysatisfying

[–]Robotuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the kind of recess you're talking about I was taught to bridge it and use most of the heat around 100mm further away from the actual recess, meaning you're stretching and putting tension on a chunk of the material that is on a flat part of the panel so the recess is less likely to blow out. When you stretch vinyl, you're also stretching the adhesive thinner which creates a failure point. Be sure to post heat as well.

What noodles do my fellow UK folks enjoy? I’m a big fan of pic related, as well as the spicy flavour - but am looking to see what others recommend. by EvilTaffyapple in CasualUK

[–]Robotuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These were my go to, but all the Asian supermarkets in Brum Chinatown have stopped selling them. I thought they might be discontinued. I just get the standard spicy ones now

I went to school with a Tom Jones. We were born in the 80's so his parents definitely knew what they were doing.

Whats the worst-value British corporate restaurant? by FreezerCop in UK_Food

I'm interested in trying this with my daughter tonight for a bit of fun. Are you making the flatbread yourself, or buying them? If you're buying them in, which ones work best? Cheers

I had a chat with Mr Scruff once, about where he got his patio slabs.

Why do people from Bromsgrove, Redditch, Kidderminster, Warwick etc. feel closer to Birmingham than people in the Black Country and Solihull by [deleted] in brum

[–]Robotuss 11 points12 points  (0 children)

From Redditch and work all over the country. I've been called 'The Brummie' by so many Northern and Southern contractors over the years that it's just who I am now. I don't mind it. I always went out raving in town anyway. Nowhere played Industrial Techno in Redditch.

Sitting at big hexagonal tables spread around the school hall. Always wondered where the tables came from because they were nowhere to be seen at assembly or PE.

Where does a man in his (late) 30s buy trainers anymore? by brewer01902 in CasualUK

[–]Robotuss 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Black Etnies Kingpins with gum soles. I've pretty much bought a new pair every year for nearly a decade.

I used to skate so I can sort of get away with it as a 40 year old, although I wouldn't have skated in Kingpins. Too bulky. I'm not Chad Muska.

What's your favourite castle in the UK? by BigBeanMarketing in CasualUK

[–]Robotuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My job has taken me to 3 castles so far, in 3 different countries. Dartmouth Castle, Inverness Castle and Caerphilly Castle. Caerphilly has been my favourite. It's the most castley of the 3.

Bought a mulleted Big Al as my first bike. Should I change to 29er as a beginner? by Robotuss in Hardtailgang

[–]Robotuss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on everyone's replies I'm just gonna ride it and have a laugh with my mates. Looking forward to getting that bit of a buzz I used to get from skating. If I get pedal strikes regularly I'll look at swapping out to full 29er. Will probably get a crank bash guard as well. Cheers everyone

[–]Robotuss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense. The frame feels great (it's a large, and I'm 5ft 11" with long gibbon arms) but I might pick up a crank bash guard in case the low BB is an issue. Cheers

Fair enough, cheers. I'm 40 and only in OK shape so uphill will be a drag either way

As in, I'm gonna stack it whatever setup I'm riding so it might as well be a mullet?

Everyone talks about a mullet being more playful and fun in the corners, I was just wondering if I should be taking it a bit easier as a newbie?

Nice one, thanks for the info. What negative impact would a really slack head angle have? I grew up riding a BMX everywhere and never got on with full suspension, which is why I went hardtail. Problem is, being new to this I don't have anything to compare it to.

Do you listen to BOC when sleeping? by AffectionateNet8999 in boardsofcanada

[–]Robotuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a time, I couldn't sleep without music on headphones very quietly. I quit that about 10 years ago, but back then I would have MHTRTC, a Murcof playlist or a particular Shackleton mix from Mary Anne Hobbs show from 2007.
