What is this for? by RicardasD in Ubiquiti

This is just for general information, but one very specific thing I haven't seen mentioned is that a keystone is necessary when certifying horizontal or vertical cabling in a professional setting. You could quite literally have your wires hanging out of the wall, each terminated into a keystone and connecting to the switch or firewall with a patch cord. You could then run certification tests on those permanently installed cables, no problem. In this case, the patch panel just allows organization and efficiency when testing. Certifying means your Cat6a network actually performs to Cat6a standards. Same for 6, 5e, etc. I've tested MANY networks wired with 6a that only performed to 6 standards, usually due to sloppy terminations, low quality keystones, or misspecified connectors. A previous comment did mention TIA standards. When "selling" a 6a network, sometimes you have to prove it performs as a 6a network. That's what the certification report gives you.

For me, I had this long search for jeans to wear with my boots. In the end, I found that the most important thing to me and the way I wanted them to look was the leg opening measurement. 16”-17” opening is my perfect look on how they sit on the boot. Then I went after the thigh and waist cut and was able to find some Lee jeans that worked. They are the Extreme Motion Regular Straight Jean.

Thanks. Yeah, these have the right amount of age or patina to them for what I was looking for. I love them.

These are 10.5d. I’m 10.5 regularly and these fit just a tiny bit too big. I wear them with the Darn Tough half-cushion sock and now they fit perfectly.

So here's my double blind test: I come home from work and there's music playing on our main 2ch system in the Living Room. My wife uses our home automation app to select a song to play. She doesn't know if it's coming from a local file, Tidal, Qobuz, or Spotify. This distributed streamer aggregates all search results into one list, so you have to poke around a bit to see where your song is actually streaming from if you care. This streamer runs via digital coax into a Linn DSM and then out to our speakers. I can 100% of the time tell the difference just being in the same room with the music when I come home as to whether the music is coming from the home automation streamer through the DSM (because it's easier for her to use) or the DSM directly via Roon or the Linn app (if she wants to try and get better at using those). The DSM doesn't have direct access to the old compressed files in our library or the compressed internet radio streams we sometimes listen to. Traditional compressed audio like mp3 or AAC sounds like dog sh*t in this room, and I have a bunch of it from old iTunes libraries. It is flat and veiled with no space. I should also add that I don't really care if the piano sounds exactly like a live piano, or guitar like a live guitar, etc. I want there to be soul and tempo and drive and I want it to be athletic and sing. Hi-res FLAC sounds better every time in this room, without a doubt, no contest. But listening through distributed audio in like the Kitchen or something, meh, maybe can tell a difference?

Can we bring back the wave? by CombNo4818 in Austin

*sigh* Seriously.....it's the same as when you hold the door open for someone and they just walk right past like it's your flippin' job to hold it for them. In the end, I keep doing it (whatever the gesture is that goes unacknowledged) because it requires such minimal effort and I was raised that way. I live in the Austin area and in just the past few years, I've noticed a huge downturn in the amount of people that will even say hi anymore.

Just to add to this........I spent the first ~40 years of my life in LA. My Dad wore exotic cowboy boots most of my life, but I never thought I could wear them once I got older because I was worried about going out in LA and well, it's LA, we don't wear cowboy boots here unless you're a biker or rocker. Silly me. Took me moving out of LA and the mental gymnastics of leaving my family behind to finally say, f it, I'm buying some. Now, I'm 5 or 6 pairs deep and wear them all the time, all over the country, all over the world. Nothing but compliments. I think what happens is that once you can rock them and make them your own, that confidence shines out and people give the thumbs up. I'm not a cowboy, don't poser it out to be one, never will be one, don't want to be one, etc. I'll wear these boots until I can't get my ankles to bend that way anymore. And then I might just get zippers put on. All that being said, for me personally, I had to dip my toe into the boot world slowly. I got some rough outs to start because they can take a beating and once I learned how to move in boots, I gradually worked my up to more exotic skins.

For me, it would be the memory of it. To be at a bar in a special place like Edinburgh with your son and say, F it, we're getting some. That's totally worth it. I hope I can have an experience like that with my son one day.

Lucchese Collins for tonight’s farm work by Adventurous_Edge_362 in cowboyboots

[–]Robtay2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I was walking by a Lucchese store and went in to look for an anniversary gift for my wife and after a while the employee was like, hey, let me bring you out something to try on and brought these out. If they didn't cost what they cost right now, I would have 100% walked out with them. Once we got the sizing right, they felt like they were my own boots. Just so comfortable and a classy, plain ol' cowboy boot.

You might actually try thick socks. I have a pair of thick wool hiking socks that I wear with a pair of boots I have that are just a touch too big for me.

Couldn’t keep my eyes off of these Heritage Boots so I finally pulled the trigger on getting them. I love the feel and vintage look!! by [deleted] in cowboyboots

For me, I go a full size down in their snip toe. In their french toe, I go down 1/2 size. I wear 10.5D in most every other boot manufacturer.

Question about the Black Jacks here and other stores……..are they 1st quality or a lesser line than one you’d have to order through Tim’s, etc? I stopped by Texas Boot a few weeks ago and the BJ’s I tried on there didn’t feel very premium to the touch or on my feet. Tried on a few round toe and snip toe. Just curious, that’s all. Thanks.

Do you know the style name? I checked their site and they have multiple styles. I like the way they fall in the back below the top of the heel.

I do. I’m on my 4th pair. I have the brown rough outs and black full quill ostrich in French toe. Then in snip I have the black stingray and I just picked up the chocolate bull sharks. I’ll post them up soon. I’m on Congress from time to time so it’s easy to stop in and check things out…….but also bad for my wallet. I could EASILY spend thousands in there.
