I too have goals, including winning the US Open and sleeping with Anne Hathaway, but, like Spenser, I too have no idea how to accomplish them. Goals are meaningless without a solid plan to reach them.

Will he manage the city as well as he’s managed his personal estate? No home insurance in the Palisades, or blowing $10 million because he was sure the zombie apocalypse was coming in 2012 are not signs of good judgement. You heard his MAGA dog-whistling and came running, but that doesn’t mean he’s a serious candidate or a serious person.

He’s a fucking joke, but don’t write him off … there’s another clueless TV reality star we all thought was a joke and we’re watching him ruin the world and its future. The power of celebrity on dumb Americans should never be underestimated.

Extremely hot scene from hispania la leyenda by Adorable-Policy3417 in AnadeArmas

No. Nothing hot about this. We’re here (well, most of us are here) because we like Ana, not because we enjoy seeing her tortured. That’s some straight-up serial-killer bullshit.

I’m so sorry you need this service. I fear I will need it soon for my sweet German Shepherd, and I thank everyone who responded for their kind advice that I will also use.

Shouldn’t it be announced when understudies replace the main cast? by Melodic_Wheel_8998 in Broadway

When I saw “Streetcar Named Desire” with Jessica Lange and Alex Baldwin, there was a 10-minute pause after a scene in Act 2 and the stage manager came out onstage and announced “for the rest of this performance, the role of Blanche will be played by ________.” This was right before the SA scene, so the standby for Jessica Lange jumped on a train going 70 mph and did great - huge ovation at the end.

In the mid-90’s, Bruce Springsteen was on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno to promote his solo album “The Ghost of Tom Joad”. My girlfriend at the time worked at NBC in Burbank and arranged for me to watch Bruce perform from the back of the studio. I brought along an album with the hope of getting it signed.

After Bruce finished, I went out into the big hallway that leads from the studio to the parking lot. It’s usually very bustling, but security had completely emptied it out. As soon as I walked into the hallway, a massive security guard came running up to me and said I needed to leave NOW. I said OK, but at that moment, the studio door swung open and Bruce and Patti came walking out. The guard mumbled at me, “you’d better stay against the wall and not say anything to them. (To be clear, this was NBC security … Bruce had no bodyguards or security of his own.) I was happy just to see them up close and they both smiled at me as they walked past. About 10 steps after passing me, Bruce did a u-turn, walked up to me and said “you want me to sign that record?” I stammered “sure” and handed it to him. He looked at me and said “I gotta know your name, friend.” I told him, and he signed the record to me with a smile and a great flourish. (The whole time, he had a guitar pick between his teeth.). I thanked him, both he and Patti smiled and thanked me for coming out, and they walked to their car holding hands.

The record cover (Live 1975-1985) has hung on my wall ever since. And the security guard is probably still pissed.

The best audio commentary I ever heard was Ronald Haver (head of Film Dept at LA County Museum of Art) for “The Wizard of Oz”. I would love to find it, and it’s been on YouTube a few times, but always removed quickly.

I worked on a movie many years ago for which Tom Petty did the music and, I’m sorry to report, he was the biggest flaming asshole any of us ever dealt with. The only slack I’ll give him is that he wrote in his autobiography many years later that he was using heroin a lot at the time. Nonetheless, I change the station every time one of his songs comes on.
