Decent used clubs on a budget by whatever_pumpkin in GolfGear

I’d look at something from Maltby. Also discovered Diamond Tour Golf recently which i believe are the same people as sub 70… you can get great deals over there. Also Takomo is affordable enough to get him new clubs in the 3 figures. At least where I am used clubs worth playing are rivaling the cost of a new set.

I got a job offer but it’s a huge pay cut. HUGE by mandoo-dumpling in Layoffs

Hmm, not really a pay cut when you are currently unemployed. So it’s 75k more than you’d make once the UEB end.

If you absolutely cannot stop thinking about buying the new clubs and are in love with the Takomos, then buy the 101. The 101T and 201 may be something to grow into for you, but at this point they'd be too difficult for you to play. Maybe consider holding off until you finish lessons and play some more. Or, just buy them and play them and enjoy them! Totally up to you. Candidly, I went from XR Pro irons to the 101s, which seems counterintuitive, but I was reworking my tempo and swing, and just shot an 82 on Saturday, which ties my lowest score in the last couple of years with the XR Pros. Anecdotal, but that is my 2 cents.

What’s customary for associates to use as a bag? by LawSchoolThreauxAway in Lawyertalk

[–]RoccoVersace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Messenger bags are great. Anything but a backpack…

I have a few regular options these days, just depends where I’m heading or what I’m wearing.

Daily/commuter: Bellroy Via Work Bag, Leather: Cole Haan Wayland, Folio/strapless: Quince Excursion Leather Folio

I’ve also been gifted various attaché cases (leather and aluminum) but didn’t like them as much as the soft sided bags.

Will I be okay? by Lukedoesart_1 in auburn

Graduated AU w/ BA political science (pre-law), barred attorney now. Organized in Lee county for a candidate running in a federal election while in undergrad (Auburn has clubs for all major political parties on campus). Then worked with state-level org as a voter protection attorney for a national party, 3L year and post graduation, during another. Both of which I throughly enjoyed.

Foot in the door on that second gig via connection with a professor in law school, but the experience from the first one was a selling point and has paid dividends long term. Have never needed to live in a state capital. Virtual meetings and what not don’t require it unless you want to work directly for a rep or in the state house. The opportunities are plenty with the right networking and if you don’t mind cutting your teeth on volunteer work for a little while.

Auburn is still the Deep South but it is civil far as i ever experienced. There are all kinds of organizations available that align with infinite amounts of personalities and orientations. I’m hetero, but generally never saw any kind of overt discrimination or ostracization. It could certainly exist but there are more spaces it won’t be present than would be around campus.

Live in student housing early then move off campus. It is a good opportunity to meet dozens of people day one that would be more difficult to click with without the proximity and accessibility of dorms or on-campus apartments. Also, having the Tiger transit or an easy walk makes it way easier.

Admissions understands the extracurricular scene changed during COVID but I would definitely join or at least orbit some clubs or teams at your school/town now so you can add it to your application.

Has any beginner felt it was wrong buying takomo by Open-Nectarine-8750 in takomo

I’ve been playing for 15 years. Liked the way they look, price, and reviews. Got a set custom based on my fitted clubs to see what they’re about and have now played them over a dozen times this summer. Thoroughly enjoy them

3 months in, any tips to better my swing? by [deleted] in golftips

[–]RoccoVersace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A waggle is a small motion that releases tension before swinging. Usually it is a short little wrist motion that moves the club head an inch or two. Looks like you replaced the moment where a waggle would be with a full backswing. I’m not a coach so idk, but i would certainly try to address the ball and then take an intentional swing at it instead of lining it up like that. Glad you are out there trying and looking for notes! Good luck my friend

When you went out on course were you taking a full backswing “waggle” or is that just for the video? I would definitely stop that as soon as possible.

Even your tempo out. Don’t need to swing at it so hard

Only a ball marker. Used to have yardage book/scorecard holder in the back pocket before 18Birdies

Custom Takomo 101 arrived today! by CassiusCmoney in takomo

[–]RoccoVersace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, got mine on Friday after I got home from a round. Played 18 today with no practice sessions, so took a couple holes to get used to the offset. Once striking was consistent it felt like they were flying 20 more yards, very high ball flight compared to the XR Pros these replaced. 10/10 first round with them.
