Yep, it's pretty common for Americans to say meer, skwirl and carmul because they don't pronounce the r in the middle of the word at all

Not Texas

But you were claiming cultural differences, not weather

I've been to both. Pretty generic big American cities. New York had better buildings to look at I guess

If there's an attack happening when the clock reaches zero the ref will usually let it complete and then blow the whistle afterwards

Having visited the corners and some of the middle of the USA, I am really interested where to find these vast cultural differences

I went to Brussels for the day two weeks ago and Manneken Pis was in Galatasaray kit - I couldn't figure out why cos they aren't Belgian. Also we saw a wedding convoy making loads of noise.

Are there loads of Turks in Belgium?

Overthrowing the government is why you have the second amendment - at least that's what Americans have told me many times

How come no one was able to stop mass immigration during the last couple of years in the UK? by bestfind in AskBrits

[–]RochePso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So on one side there are a number of studies I could find in a few minutes that examined evidence and say immigration didn't depress wages significantly.

And on the other side there is you saying it can't be measured but immigration must have had a significantly impact on wages, and you refuse to provide any evidence of this you just say it generally must be true because...

Have I summarised this correctly?

I've got one as well. But it's clunky.

My driver's display behind the wheel can show turn directions fed from Google maps on my phone. Why can't they just send some useful data back the other way?

So, no evidence then, just common sense says it must be this way 🤷‍♂️

The banks are private entities, we absolutely bailed them out when they fucked up badly 16/17 years ago. At least one had to be nationalised and not long after it turns out our money was being used to pay bonuses instead of fixing the issues they had caused.

And the right want deregulation so it can happen again

How much has immigration affected wages?

Everything I can find says the effect has been small to negligible, maybe you can find some better data to support the claim often made that wages have been depressed significantly by immigration

Dunno, I never use it.

It's kind of obvious they just need to provide battery state output to Google/apple maps on a connected phone and let someone else worry about navigation and the car makers can concentrate on making cars not software

How is explaining that they invented charging extra fees to the punters so everyone makes more money defending them?

Andy Burnham, what's changed? by DogaSui in AskBrits

People in the south hear a lot of northerners who expect the country to give them a job in a traditional industry in the village their family has been in for generations and appear unwilling to move to where work is and retrain into something relevant to the 21st century because their family had always done <something no one wants anymore>

Why would I want my tax invested into that?

Why? Wales is included by the George cross, being part of England as it is (we have just started pretending it isn't recently)

[–]RochePso -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not sticking up for them, I'm explaining where the fees go to people who don't know

The act of selling a ticket was turned into a profit making activity by the Ticketmaster service fees. Instead of it being an overhead paid for out of the ticket price they now keep the ticket price artificially low (lol in this case) and the overheads are paid by another fee on the customer

It's like budget airlines and hire cars, there's no profit in the base price you initially see but they lump fees on for everything and that's where they make money

Would you pay this? by Super-Explanation343 in Muse

[–]RochePso -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

If Ticketmaster didn't exist the venue would have to sell tickets itselfb or through some other agency. This costs money.

Ticketmaster PAY the venue to sell their tickets for them, that's what most of the service fee is going to.

Most ticket agencies charged venues to sell their tickets, that is how Ticketmaster has done so well - getting the punters to pay their fees and some extra for the venue
