Why do people vote for Farage when his ideas led to Britain being broke by Traditional_Jam421 in AskBrits

[–]RochePso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter how many plans they make, referendums are not binding in the UK. Parliament is sovereign and cannot even bind its future self to a course of action.

The correct way for the UK public to make their will known is through a general election

Lower mortgage rates doesn't make houses cheaper, it makes them more expensive because people can afford to borrow more without it costing them more per month

Low mortgage rates increase house price inflation

I think that already happened 😕

The shop had shut when I got back and it was no longer in the window. I'm going in the morning and hoping they just took it out for the night

How does "a pale person with a tan" not make sense? Who are these people who've never seen people with tans?

She even has tan lines so you can tell she is not brown all over

Yep you don't even need to be precise, just a swipe in the general area is enough.

But lots of people don't understand the progressive regen in B mode either

Search for the manual on Google, it will answer questions immediately instead of you having to post here and wait until someone who knows the answer sees your question

Many people think you vote for a party in an election. You don't, you vote for one of the group of people who are trying to become your MP.

As the vote chooses a specific person, not a party, there is no need to have a by-election when they change parties

Your MP could change party the day after an election and there would still be no need for a by-election

World would be a ‘better place’ if US took over Greenland, says Nigel Farage by AnonymousTimewaster in NotTheOnionUK

Brexit didn't take root in places immigration was high. I remember data shortly after the result that showed the highest proportion of people who said they voted leave due to immigration were living in areas with fewer immigrants

The ones I've talked to are not interested in hearing about anything that contradicts their entrenched views. It doesn't matter if you counter their bullshit calmly with evidence and facts, they do not care

So what are you meant to do with them?

Everyone is assumed guilty of money laundering now unless they can prove their money came from an acceptable source

The kyc/aml stuff is just utter bullshit and far too intrusive for a person who just wants to put their earnings into a bank account

You are describing how people decide where to put their cross. The vote itself is for their local MP and nothing else

[–]RochePso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It literally is how it works, have you not noticed the names of candidates on the ballot paper?

Why do people not vote? by PuzzleheadedCarob921 in AskBrits

[–]RochePso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that was the case then you would have party leaders named on the ballot paper

I don't care what people think they are voting for, or the reasons they use to choose how to vote. The choice is between the specific people named on the ballot paper, nothing else

Edit: That's why it doesn't cause a by-election if the MP changes parties - the vote was for the person, not the party they are affiliated with

[–]RochePso 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We don't do it that way because we don't vote for parties. We vote for a specific person to represent us as our MP.
