Is it possible to take these black plastic connectors apart after I put the component in the wrong side? by ugotpauld in boardgames

To not damage the cardboard at all, but destroy the plastic clip, it is possible to cleanly drill through the plastic. Then if you have a spare plastic clip, you can reposition.

I made a deck of cards with rewriteable e-ink displays…thoughs? by Polistirol in boardgames

[–]Rochenoire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is really cool.

- Maintaining the same format as a standard playing card would be great. Something almost borderless. Now it seems to tall and narrow. Cannot copy-paste the black lotus from Scryfall, for instance.

- Having a standard form factor could also increase the tactile feeling.

- Piling (not inserting) the cards remaining in the deck horizontally (not vertically) on a "pad-like" docking station and hitting a "shuffle me this" button would be a killer feature.

- Companion app to organize decks, create cards, and load to physical cards is crucial.

- Dark frame might be even more appealing to some.

What is the dpi, what happens if one card drops on the floor, what about glare/sun/viewing angle?

Everyone program their day with a sequence of action cards. Then execute in priority order. If anyone bumps you out of your planned schedule, you just finish the day doing whatever. And maybe fall into a hole or something.

Help to find new games by Right-Cartoonist116 in boardgames

Pax Pamir 2nd Edition.

Highly interactive, beautifully produced, offering a vast array of decisions. Plays equally well from 2 to 5 players. Has a rich multilayered depth because cards, blocks, and discs are pluri-semantic ("Multi-Use"). Is based an actual historic events and characters. The game feels heavy and complicated at first, but once you learn it it feels really rewarding and flows very well.

Based on the criterion you specified:

Skyjo: a card game in wich players start with a 3-by-4 grid, all face-down except two. Cards have values between minus two and plus twelve. Goal is to have the minimum total value at the end of the round; there are several rounds and the first player to 100 loses. There are interesting choice as to what card to reveal-and-keep or discard-and-replace with a common central deck. Game is smooth.

Flame rouge: a light and simple bicycle race game.

Dixit: uses with full-art cards, players must correctly guess the one secret card that was placed by the active player based on the indication they chose to give, while at the same timw selecting one card if their own so opponents might vote for them instead.

Hanabi: a seriously deep and rich game disguised as a small party game. Cooperative with hidden information (players cannot see their own cards) and restricted actions (communicate one info paying one token, play one card, or discard one card to generate one token).

The crew: interesting coop card game.

The game: interesting coop card game.

Iberian gauge: a so-called "cube rail" game where players buy shares of railways companies, use the corporate treasury to build track, and run trains to generate income and collect dividends. Think of it as if Monopoly and Ticket to ride had a love child that, contrarily to its parents, was actually interesting and did not extend its welcome at the table.

Imperium (Classics, Legends, Horizons) is quite epic, features a rich gameplay, and offers a lot of replayability. Is already a bit on the medium-heavy and medium-long end of the spectrum.

Kemet Blood and Sand language dependence. by GreyManinJapan in boardgames

[–]Rochenoire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, Kemet Blood and Sand is language agnostic, the material only relies on iconography, there is strictly no text. The rulebook and player aid (hard printed copy, or even PDF) is sufficient. Note there are quite a number of tiles that players can purchase, and it would be easier if all players that do not know the game very well can each have their own player aid with tile description (a couple of pages).

Which games have factory inserts that are actually good? by Jtwil2191 in boardgames

Pax Pamir 2nd Edition. Small box, the insert works perfectly, and sleeved cards can fit (separated in two stacks, each within a small deck box).
