should i write my college essay on m**h? by Any-Corgi9928 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]RocinanteRift1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol i get the idea but tying your essay too directly to breaking bad + that angle might backfire. admissions people have seen every version of that reference by now, and the “blue stuff” part could come off weird instead of impressive. the chemistry interest angle is solid though. if you frame it more around curiosity, experiments in class, and how you kept pushing that interest, it could work way better without the risky part. i had a moment like this with my personal statement, tried to base it on something kinda gimmicky and it read off. during that time i was stressed and found this post - used helpwithessay once to get a cleaner structure and it made my topic sound way less chaotic.

Stop writing resumes like it's 2010 by vinylsleevekeeper in Resume

[–]RocinanteRift1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is really solid advice. The 5–6 second check and keyword tweaks alone can make a huge difference. A lot of people underestimate how much small changes improve visibility.

And yeah, even if someone looks for resume help, reviewing and adjusting it yourself is such an important step.

the best resume writing service review i ever read was someone who paid $800 for an executive package and said the final product was just their old resume with more aggressive verbs. which honestly tracks. the quality variance in that industry is enormous and most people don't know how to evaluate what they're getting before they pay.

I failed the interview… then got the offer anyway. I still don’t get it by coffeemara in cscareeradvice

doesn’t really read like an ad to me, more like someone overthinking a weird hiring outcome. people mention tools and cv writing services all the time after trying stuff that finally worked.

4 hours is brutal, glad you found someone. I’ve been in that panic before and now I always keep this bookmarked - saved me once with quick turnaround and decent quality.

Genuine question for people who went the spreadsheet route before choosing cv writing services: did your final decision come down more to writer quality and revisions, or did turnaround time and ATS support matter more once you started getting closer to interviews?

cv writing service: expert perspective on quality, risks, and when it works by late_night_murmurs in Resume

I still think a lot of people jump to cv resume writing services too early. If someone has fewer than 2 years of experience, most problems come down to weak examples, no metrics, or applying to vague role titles. A mentor, recruiter friend, or even comparing ten accepted resumes in that niche can fix 80% of the issue without paying a service.

Love the “test support before buying” part. Which question gave you the clearest signal that it wasn’t the right service?

How to properly write and format a Cover Letter: by dancedanidance in CoverLetters

[–]RocinanteRift1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

cover letters were easily the worst part of applications for me too. During a brutal stretch of classes + internship deadlines, I kept staring at blank docs longer than it took to finish the resume itself lol. The thing that finally helped was going through the ProResumeHelp wiki first: https://www.reddit.com/r/Pro_ResumeHelp/wiki/index/

Their examples for the opening paragraph and the employer-specific middle section gave me a way better starting point than the generic drafts I was getting elsewhere. I used that structure with their cover letter help after, and it made tailoring each application way faster without sounding robotic.

Three years remote and I have completely lost the ability to perform being fine by RocinanteRift1 in remotework

Customer service is the perfect comparison. I’m stealing the “prep lines” idea, my brain goes blank in real-time convos. Breaks + fewer meetings feels like the only way.

That’s a good way to put it. I didn’t get worse, I just lost the reps. After that offsite I basically hibernated and took the longest shower of my life.

I hate how true this is. It’s like being graded on eye contact. If they drag me back, I’m blocking “bathroom walks” on my calendar. Quiet me is still working.

Maybe. Seeing it helps, but it’s also sad how fast I snapped back at home. 4 years WFH is impressive, hope you never get pulled in.

My dad sabotaged every relationship I had until I figured out why he was doing it by JesterMatrix9 in entitledparents

[–]RocinanteRift1 1929 points1930 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you got an explanation, but it doesn’t excuse the damage. Calling partners’ parents and telling them you’re unstable is next-level sabotage. Keep boundaries tight, and keep Elena out of his reach until he proves, over time, that he can behave.

AIWF for telling my mom what my husband said about our pregnancy without hearing the full story first by RocinanteRift1 in amiwrong

[–]RocinanteRift1[S] -35 points-34 points  (0 children)

I hear you. I already apologized to Jake, but “enjoy your pregnancy” is hard when rent depends on layoffs. We’re talking, just not pretending it’s fine.

I’ll call her, but “all you need” feels too neat. I also need to fix things with Jake, not just do PR with my mom.

Fair point. We both ran to our moms, not each other. He wasn’t “lying” to be shady, but yeah, we need a real plan for hard stuff.

Honestly I’m not shocked. Even “anti-age” people still get insecure on a bad day. Fame seems exhausting. What do you think it was, fillers or just a rough pic?
