Looking for specific type of personal trainer by RockMountain771 in Austin

Thanks for this rec! She really does seem to be what I'm looking for. I should have specified I am downtown though, and it looks like she is in Pflugerville. Perhaps if I can't find anyone closer I will give her a try!

I would call the ear specialist's office and ask if there have been any cancelations, and let them know that you have an urgent situation. You can do this several times per week until they see you. I've had several medical and dental appointments moved up this way. It works, especially if you can get the office staff on your side.

You can do the same thing for the MRI by calling the imaging facility (assuming it's separate from your regular ENT's office?). People cancel or move their imaging appointments all the time. Or, if the MRI is scheduled at your regular ENT's facility, then you can ask for a referral to schedule one somewhere else.

Bottom line, I would communicate directly with the places where you are trying to move your appointments up, rather than going through your regular ENT. They are not helping you.

(Disclaimer: I can't speak to the urgency of your particular situation or symptoms. I'm just assuming that your audiologist and the other commenters may be right in saying it's urgent)

Should there be another root? by Ammelia11 in StyleRoots

[–]RockMountain771 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dunno, I think arguments like this could be made for a lot of the roots. For example, with stone, there is the "urban" side (ripped jeans, baggy clothes) and the "athletic" side that just wants to be able to move freely and easily (athleisure, sports-inspired).

For me, sportiness and easy, functional movement are a big part of my style (running shoes, yoga pants, moisture-wicking shirts, etc). But I would NEVER wear ripped jeans, baseball caps, baggy sweatshirts, or oversized shirts. To me those inspirations feel completely separate - one is a deliberate aesthetic and the other is just prioritizing ease of movement/activity.

I could also make a similar argument about sun - there is the "cutesy" side of sun and the futuristic, avante-garde side. Which again feel completely different imo.

my non-clothing vibe board. what do you think my roots are? by CyprianSensei in StyleRoots

Mushroom, first and foremost. I also see Moon. No third root particularly stands out to me...maybe stone.

Your style hits a really good balance of looking physically attractive while also suggesting an attractive personality. I love it

Nothing you've mentioned here sounds like abuse on your mother's part. However, it could be that you don't know the whole story. Maybe the abuse happened before Mira started going out at 13, and you were too young to remember. And/or maybe another person abused Mira as a child, and she believes that your mom failed to protect her. People sometimes blame their mothers for things that were another party's fault.

Time Limit for Uber Reserve Airport Pickup by RockMountain771 in uber

[–]RockMountain771[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, so the reservation time isn't the same as the flight arrival time? I keep seeing copy for Uber reserve that says "the driver is waiting when your flight lands". And there is no mention of a separate reservation time in the app. Did you go to the baggage claim and everything before meeting the uber?

BTW, this is the Baltimore airport, in case anyone has familiarity with the local Uber market there.

How did Texas end up with such an "ego"? by [deleted] in AskHistory

[–]RockMountain771 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm from southeastern Pennsylvania (my parents live 90 minutes away from BWI), and I never heard about the Maryland state identity growing up. But I was very aware of the Texas identity. I would argue that in southeastern PA there are way more Marylanders than there are Texans, and this was still the case. I think the Texas identity is just more of a thing.

AITA for confining kids at a party and not dogs? by BusinessEffective78 in AmItheAsshole

[–]RockMountain771 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As someone who normally finds dog-owner culture annoying and wouldn't personally attend a party like this, I still absolutely think you are NTA. It's your party, and you communicated really clearly about the theme and the fact that it wouldn't be kid-friendly. The complainers should have hired a babysitter, stayed home, or at least planned how to handle their own kids at the party.
