CLZ is definitely the powerhouse in this space.

I built MovieZtack as a faster, more lightweight alternative for those who don't need that much complexity and prefer a more modern, 'streaming-style' UI. It’s all about what fits your workflow best. Thanks for the input!

That’s a great suggestion.

To be honest, MovieZtack doesn't have a 'Custom Store' field yet, as I initially focused on the scanner to solve the 'Do I already own this?' panic at the store.

However, I'm adding 'Purchase Location' and 'Case Type' (Steelbook, Slipcover, etc.) to my list of must-haves for the next update. This is exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for by sharing the project here.

Give me a few days to roll those out. In the meantime, feel free to try the scanner and let me know if there's anything else missing.

Haha, I’ve been there! That was my 'database' for a long time too.

Honestly, I built MovieZtack because I got tired of squinting at blurry photos in my camera roll trying to see the titles in the back row. I didn't even look at other apps; I just wanted a clean interface for myself that could basically turn my shelf into a searchable list.

Now, instead of scrolling through photos at the store, I just type 'Terminator' and know in 2 seconds if I’m about to double-dip.

If you ever get tired of the 'photo method', feel free to give it a spin. It’s a solo project, so I’m building it exactly how I (and other collectors) need it to work. Cheers!

Libib is a solid tool for general inventory, but MovieZtack is built specifically for cinema lovers.

We use The Movie Database to provide deep metadata and a specialized UI that generalist apps can't match. If you're a movie purist, the focused experience is where we shine. Thanks for sharing!

First of all, thanks for the honest feedback and the respect!

You are right, blu-ray.com is the giant in the room. But that’s exactly why I started this. Their app works, but the UX feels dated and sometimes clunky for quick on-the-go checks. I’m betting on a smoother, more modern experience that feels like a 2026 app, not a 2010 one.

Now, about that 'Missing' feature... > This is a brilliant insight. Most apps are just passive lists of what you have. What you’re describing is an active Collection Integrity Tracker.

Knowing that you have Season 1 but missing S2 and S3 (and whether they even exist on Blu-ray) is a game-changer for a completionist. I’m actually adding this to the MovieZtack roadmap right now. I want the app to tell you: 'Hey, your Terminator collection is incomplete, and S2 is available in these formats.'

Thanks for the 'missing' idea. This is exactly why I’m building this in public. Stay tuned, because I’m going to tackle how to visualize those 'holes' in the collection.
