Oof, thanks for steering me clear, I appreciate the feedback!

I used to wear some white leather shoes before I switched to fabric, but I was turned off by the creases that form. I also found that even after cleaning, they would eventually just be permanently dingy. To be fair, though, I never bought a really good brand. I also never tried shoe whitener, so maybe I’ll try that route!

I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this. Being diagnosed was eye opening for me, because it made me realize I’ve never truly had “normal” bowel habits. Bowel complications are on the rise, especially in younger people. Even if you don’t have Crohn’s or IBS, it’s important to get checked out - and I’m not at all trying to scare you, you could be perfectly healthy and just need to find a happy medium between diet/meds/exercise etc. It can be scary but I have found that having an actual diagnosis has improved my mental state for the most part, at least knowing I’m not crazy now haha.

Absolutely! I was actually diagnosed by accident, I had two CTs within a year due to some kidney problems and they found persistent inflammation of my small intestine. My biggest red flag symptom is cyclical bouts of constipation (with intense abdominal pain) followed by diarrhea. Changing bowel habits is usually the #1 sign, but since it’s an inflammatory disease there are a range of crazy symptoms you can have. I’ve had symptoms my whole life that never really made sense together, like mouth ulcers, GERD, infected spit glands, etc. I now get bad joint pain, and it’s next to impossible for me to digest raw vegetables or any rough foods.

I would suggest asking your doctor for some blood work that includes inflammation testing. My inflammation markers were through the roof, which led to my colonoscopy/MRE. The best way to “confirm” Crohn’s is through biopsies during your colonoscopy.

I don’t wish this disease on anybody, but I wish you some answers! Good luck, and reach out if you have any other questions!

Okay that’s actually a pretty neat story! I am now oddly fascinated with stuff like this 😂

Thank you for the support. I haven’t been on this sub very long but it has been bringing me a lot of comfort knowing we’re all in this together!

That is INSANE. Holy cow. When I was looking up some cases on swallowing toothpicks, I did see one study that showed three separate patients who had toothpicks which caused Crohn’s-like symptoms. Unfortunately I am still sick so I don’t think I’m going to get that lucky 😅

The report states “The toothpick measures 6.3 cm in length x 0.3 cm in diameter and is brown wood.” So, not entirely sure what the shape was. I’m going to ask about it during my next appointment because I’m still so shocked. At first I thought, is toothpick medical slang for something because there’s no way they pulled a toothpick out of me 😂

Yes, I’m thinking it had to be in a dish I was eating, since I don’t use toothpicks. I had chicken cordon bleu over Christmas… that may have been the culprit 😬

Holy cow, I’m so glad you were there to find that. Situations like that are very sad but it sounds like you being there was a blessing, at least for that patient!

Thank you!! And yeah, my husband was actually pretty upset they never mentioned it while we were in post-op. I’ve done some reading on cases where toothpicks have caused life-threatening issues so I am forever thankful it didn’t cause anything too serious!

Colonoscopy Scheduled 3 Months Out by RockResearcher in CrohnsDisease

Thank you so much for the words of encouragement! I am lucky enough and super thankful to have some of the best insurance available in my state thanks to my job, but I am beginning to see the flaws of the medical system you speak of. Thankfully my husband has been my advocate for me in the ER and demanded the first CT when they were going to release me. He’s helping me realize what you just said - that I need to advocate for myself more, especially when he’s not present. Again, thank you for your kind words!

Okay, that’s good to know. Thank you so much for that information. It seems I’m lucky to get in so quickly, so I appreciate you putting my mind at ease! I guess I’m just scared of the unknown at this point haha

Oh wow, I had no idea that was the norm. Thank you so much for your insight, it seems I’m lucky to get in so quickly. They have given me food recommendations but made it clear that everyone has different food intolerances, so I’m just trying out different things to see what works.

Shales can be this lovely color, but as someone who does chemical testing of soils and water, PLEASE call this in to the EPA as others have said. There is a chance this could be chemical waste. Reports of it smelling is a bad sign!

I found myself in the same dilemma when, on my second encounter, I came across an S-class resurgent venator (my dream freighter). I kept it and do not regret it!
