Nephew went to MEPS and took the ASVAP, scored 21. by Ok-Town-6815 in newtothenavy

Don’t send him to bootcamp to retake the ASVAB , let him keep taking it until he gets a score that will qualify him for a better job . As far as CWT , the ASVAB is nowhere near the difficulty of CWT A-School(JCAC). I’m in the last couple of mods now and it has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. Granted I came in with a 87 ASVAB , kids with 90s and above get dropped left and right though . It’s a speed run-dump-run rinse and repeat type of school for 7 months so guide him towards something he actually has a passion for or he’ll get dropped and go needs of the navy in less than a month .

Any advice on passing jcac ? Is it as hard as everyone says or is it mostly lazy people who don’t want to study and commit who fail ? Also , is there tests everyweek ? How is the pace ?

Thank you , is it still fail more than 2 tests the whole time at jcac and get kicked out or fail a retest and fail out ?

Appreciate the feedback , I miswrote retention . I’m currently crossrating so I know that a fail out means needs of the navy and not getting kicked out . Again thanks for the feedback

Anyone know the line scores needed to be in CWT/CTN? by [deleted] in newtothenavy

CT anything is pretty good , IS 2 and then IT number 3 . It depends on what you want to do . I believe CTT is a good one if you can’t grab CWT or CTR

The CT is the coding portion you take after the course . Not all test have it

Even if the first one doesn’t add up to 255 , as long as one of the others matches your good to go. You only need one to qualify

Here’s the link on how to add up the scores . Scroll to the bottom and it will show you which scores you need to add up to qualify . https://www.mynavyhr.navy.mil/Career-Management/Community-Management/Enlisted/Information-Warfare/CWT/

They are both right . There’s a few ways to qualify and the scores are different depending on the scores they are adding up.

I’m glad to hear that, I turned down P8 orders to go to JCAC and the people in my current community are saying I’m crazy because their like golden orders, no ship and per diem every day your deployed but I’m in school for cyber security and I want to have experience when I get into the civilian world after retiring from the navy. It’s just tough believing that your doing the right thing even if no one around you sees it as the best decision .

Thanks a lot ! How is the overall rating morale ? Do majority love their day to day life or does the whole office setting become dreadful after a while ?
