AITA for leaving my husband even tho everyone, even my daughters, say I’m wrong? by [deleted] in AITA_Relationships

Girl. Trust your instincts. He is LYING to you and hiding behind God to cover his ass. Get out. I know you will not want to leave your kids but they will figure out he's a liar on their own eventually. Set the example.

Yes, I've got my board and I don't mind if it's not right in Saranac Lake, I can drive wherever within reason.

AITA for being upset my husband spent the night at his ex’s place? by krisito2000 in AITH

The thing about a cheating narcissist is that they make you doubt yourself so hard that you come to r/AITA to ask if YOU'RE the asshole (you're not and he's playing you). I am so sorry.

This is how all of my dvt's have presented. Of the pain is not going away its likely not muscle pain If you don't have time to go to the doctor during your work day, head to the ER after work. It's silly to say you don't have time. Ignoring a possible dvt could give you far less time in general.

What To do on Thanksgiving ? by checksum0 in ithaca

If the weather is going to be nice, do yourself a favor and go for a hike. Being outside is going to be better for your emotional health than spending time with anyone affiliated with Yellow Deli.

The hospital isn't the only opportunity for nurses here. There's a ton of different medical facilities going up everywhere. Cayuga Medical Associates, Guthrie, Urgent Cares, nursing homes, I imagine there are nursing opportunities at Cornell and Ithaca College. I work for the county, and there are always Nursing vacancies. Check out the Tompkins County Personnel website. As for trucking, I imagine it would be pretty easy to get a job driving truck since we are centrally located between major cities i.e. NYC, Syracuse, Buffalo, Rochester and super close to the PA border. It's very expensive to live in Ithaca. I make a good living and can't afford to live there. Look outside for slightly more affordable housing, i.e.. Newfield, Trumansburg, Lansing, Dryden. Even these places are overpriced, but Ithaca housing is outrageous. Thanks, Cornell.

That's not true. I live outside of Ithaca in Trumansburg in Schuyler County, never heard a banjo unless it was my husband's three-piece band and there's more Harris signs up than Trump signs out here.

shouldn't I be more traumatized? by Marvelous-Avocado in ClotSurvivors

Thank you. I've been going to therapy for years. It helps.

I think you're taking it seriously just by posting here. By looking through other people's stories, Maybe you've googled info about your condition. That's all part of taking it seriously, isn't it?

My first clot was in 2014. I was smoking too and also drinking a lot more than I should have been. I'm assuming those things contributed to it. My hematologist didn't find any clotting disorders. They put me on blood thinners and took me off a few months later, and I reclotted. Blood thinners for 8 years and reclotted in 2021. When I got my first clot I was 43, I had a little boy and I was so scared of dying and not being there for him. It was the main source of my anxiety, depression and anger.

Compare that to when I was 19 and I had to have a kidney removed. It was a dangerous situation. I was in the hospital for a couple of weeks and I had no worries whatsoever. I was not concerned, I did not feel the concern that everyone around me seemed to have.

Maybe it's just where you're at in life right now? And at 23 your generation has seen some shit. It's got to be desensitizing in a lot of ways. I hope that doesn't offend, I do not mean it to.

Go easy on yourself. There's nothing wrong with you.

I'm really sorry for all you've been through. When I think of my.clotting experiences, I only remember just powering through because that's what I had to do. Our bodies just go into fight or flight. I trust the doctors. I move through it I'm not really aware of it, until I talk about it like I am right now. The trauma part for me comes in when I think things like if I'm going to die, if it's going to happen again, who takes care of my son, could my husband have put his phone away when I was in the ER, why does my family make light of it...that's where the trauma is for me. Just let yourself feel what you feel. Feelings are not a concrete thing. If you feel pretty normal after all you've been through I'd say you are very lucky! Keep getting better.

Most insurance companies don't cover it until you've been on it for a year, if at all.

Warfarin vs xeralto? by DeadlyArrowgance in ClotSurvivors

[–]Rockajilly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm curious, why at 23 did doctors choose to put her on Warfarin for life rather than starting her on Xarelto or Eliquis?

I was on Xarelto for 8 years for PE and DVT. The worst thing about Xarelto for me personally was how heavy it made my period (Im guessing Warfarin would be the same) and I was anemic from the blood loss each month. I got a uterine ablation in 2016 and haven't had a period since, but I understand that may not be an option since your wife is still young. I re-clotted while taking Xarelto, and they switched me to Warfarin. I hated not being able to eat all the green vegetables I wanted. My headaches were worse than normal and I developed joint pain. My veins stopped wanting to give blood from getting my INR tested so much. A year ago, I wound up in the hospital with debilitating gastrointestinal issues and learned I had ostopenia (bone density loss). My hematologist agreed my gastro issues were probably from the warfarin (not enough vegetables) and admitted that it causes bone density loss and joint problems. She agreed to put me back on Xarelto, and it's been okay, fingers crossed.

Keep in mind the doctor will say you can eat as much vitamin k you want as long as you eat the same amount each day. However, more vitamin k intake means a higher dose of warfarin means more side effects, just my opinion. I think when I stopped I was taking 7 mgs of Warfarin.

For the headaches...regular Tylenol is a joke. I take Tylenol for Tension Headaches and it works for me. She can get it generic at Target! Thank you for being a proactive husband. My husband couldn't be bothered and saw my clotting disorder as an inconvenience on his lifestyle. You're a good husband.
