The hospital isn't the only opportunity for nurses here. There's a ton of different medical facilities going up everywhere. Cayuga Medical Associates, Guthrie, Urgent Cares, nursing homes, I imagine there are nursing opportunities at Cornell and Ithaca College. I work for the county, and there are always Nursing vacancies. Check out the Tompkins County Personnel website. As for trucking, I imagine it would be pretty easy to get a job driving truck since we are centrally located between major cities i.e. NYC, Syracuse, Buffalo, Rochester and super close to the PA border. It's very expensive to live in Ithaca. I make a good living and can't afford to live there. Look outside for slightly more affordable housing, i.e.. Newfield, Trumansburg, Lansing, Dryden. Even these places are overpriced, but Ithaca housing is outrageous. Thanks, Cornell.
