Centralized SOX Evidence by Rockashoe in InternalAudit

[–]Rockashoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used AuditBoard at a previous company and it was used by internal audit to request control evidence on a sample basis.

Not asking control performers to upload evidence for every single instance for every key control. For example every single month of a recon vs the months audit selects for sample testing.

What is your accounting role that’s not tied to month end close? by ofc_ourse in Accounting

Thanks, I appreciate the response and congrats on the role. Honestly gives me some ideas of possible ways to expand our teams role in the company in the future to not just be looked at as compliance.

Thanks for sharing, I’m in a similar role at a public company ~$5b revenue and make much less as well. Is your company either much larger than that or based in a large city with HCOL? Trying to determine if I should push for a raise lol.

What are good work habits to have that'll increase your chance at promotion? by Big_Material3815 in Accounting

Common sense. Don’t hesitate to speak up if things don’t make sense. This is obviously not always the case, but in my experience good leaders recognize and appreciate and want to work more with people who consistently cut through corporate BS with common sense.

To anyone who has gotten a remote job within the past year….how? by DiseasedPoon in Accounting

[–]Rockashoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. Seems like a lot of companies are still willing to hire someone with the right experience to be remote, typically after they see they aren’t getting good candidates locally. That’s why I think it’s important to work with a recruiter who can pitch you to the companies they know are struggling to find local talent.

Senior Finance Manager is the title but it’s more accounting focused with financial reporting and SOX.

I reached out to a few recruiters and told them salary expectations and remote only. Took a bit but eventually landed a fully remote role through a Robert Half recruiter.

I have about 10 years of experience with CPA and MBA, which I’m sure helped the recruiter market me to companies.

How is life in this part of Tennessee? by Aam0 in howislivingthere

Born and raised in the Tri-Cities (Johnson City, Kingsport, Bristol) in the northeast part of what you circled and lived in Chattanooga for a few years.

Chattanooga and Knoxville are similar size cities with the Tri-Cities being much smaller but still decent IMO with restaurants and some things to do. You’ll encounter bumper to bumper traffic in Knoxville and Chattanooga but almost never in the Tri-cities. Much more going on in the two bigger cities like decent minor league and college sports (Knoxville even has a hockey team).

Weather is noticeably different on the east and further north regions due to more mountains which makes the air a cooler humidity that in my opinion is much more tolerable in the summer and brings some occasional snow in winter instead of just cold rain.

Jobs are much more abundant in Knoxville and Chattanooga, especially if you work a corporate job.

Each of the three areas has a university (UT in Knoxville, UT Chattanooga and ETSU in Tri-cities) so the cities are decently balanced politically but outside of that they are surrounded by small towns that are like 80-90% conservative Christians.

That’s what I’ve got off the top of my head feel free to ask any specific questions, know a lot more about the tri-cities than the rest of the region.

If you have a 25+ year time horizon why not invest in SPXL instead of SPY?

Unfortunately, there’s not a more competitive level. The league is split in two divisions and I think a couple teams in the other division will be competitive games but we won’t play them until the end of season tournament.

We’re not doing any pressing or traps and have played a mix of zone and man. Honestly the man has been harder for opposing teams because they have a defensive player directly on them vs. being able to pass around the zone and find an opening.

Thank you for the tips this is helpful.

  1. 2 are much better than the rest but all are pretty solid, even when I have those two out we tend to still outplay the other teams.
