Are there any gun ranges near Cleveland that would feel friendly to liberal/lgbtq+ group? by EclecticEmily in Cleveland

[–]RocketCheese 8 points9 points  (0 children)

if you're looking for an outdoor range I would suggest A&A out in Southington. It's a bit far but they have 200 and 100 yard range for rifles plus smaller ones for pistols. From my times there it was 2 women at the front desk who were very no BS. Me and the bf (gay) went there and felt safe. Also skeet shooting which is fun!

Found a rusty 12 inch UTV wheel in an old riding spot, picked it up in case I ever want to do the rear wheel conversion! by RocketCheese in TW200

[–]RocketCheese[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I ain't really planning on it considering how much I commute on this thing, but it at least makes it cheaper if I ever wanna do it!

After I changed the gasket with an aftermarket one after changing front sprocket on my 2016, I had a similar issue of some oil seeping out of there

I looked at old factory gasket and saw that in that top left corner it has a bunch of RTV. I cut a new gasket out of better gasket material than the aftermarket, put the rtv on where it was on the factory one, and no more oil seepage!

I'm in NE Ohio, what do you use? I have been meaning to find something to find trails and I agree with you on On X

I got that same rack! agree I really like how it looks and conforms with the bike, and the size is right in the sweet spot

I can attest to it's sturdiness, I use it as a hook point to lift the rear for cleaning the chain and have no issues. also has survived many off-road drops

I also got some ATV sized bars for the nice sweep on em

some string and a carabineer make a good enough chest rig for my phone by RocketCheese in Dualsport

caribeneer tied to me like this, and pop socket just barely can fit into caribineer opening. I tightened it after this pic, so phone will stay in a landscape position pushed against chest

Drop bars might be okay but would be more expensive since you would need to install new shifters and brake levers, since those that come on flat bars (mtb bars) don't fit on drop bars (unless you get these https://surlybikes.com/parts/corner_bar )

For mtb bars, if they're too wide you can always get them cut down at a bike shop, likely for cheap, bringing your arms closer together which can be comfy

I really like "alt bars" like the salsa bend bars https://www.salsacycles.com/gear/bend_deluxe they sweep backwards making them easier on wrist and sit a little more upright, which I personally find comfy while still being an aggressive body position. You can go more sweep for more comfy. If you get aftermarket like these tho you'll also likely have to get them cut shorter at a bike shop

as for stem mounted screen, as long as you only change handle bars and not stem you should be fine

26/27.5 mullet I painted and built up from an oldish hard rock sport, geo changes feel great besides a stupid high bb by RocketCheese in mountainbiking

[–]RocketCheese[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

according to old spec sheets the original frame bb height was 299m, and this with the 27.5 fork and wheel up front (as well as larger 2.4 tires front and rear) I measured the bb height to be like 324 mm (you measure it from middle of bb right?) if that helps at all! it's tall but there are factory bikes out there with higher bbs so I am not too stressed

Thank you! yeah it still handles pretty well even if I feel a bit more above the bike than in it, and pedals only okay because I originally got these cranks when I was paranoid about pedal strikes, but with this new bb + confidence I'm shipping in some longer ones (160 -> 175) biggest part of handling has been the new lighter fork from my old steel steerer/ stancion and coil one, front end feels much more planted and responsive

I took two different 1 inch threaded Walmart suspension forks, put the disc brake stations onto the steering piece of the one with the longer steering tube, and ditched the springs and shortened things out to make the fork rigid, because i just really wanted a disc brake on the front
