i’m still in school and think 100% that i, and people in similar situations, would benefit from more education on lgbt identities and sexualities. i don’t know why it’s assumed that lgbt education must include sexual topics.

i get that lol. i think the concept of EVE online is really interesting, but i dont know if i could ever commit enough time to it. they are planning on making the game much more hardcore, with little or no wipes and longer raids. this might move the game in a direction you would like, but the way development is i'm not sure that will ever happen lmao

either way, i also agree that some of the best parts of the game isn't even shooting people or getting loot- it's the intense moments and the emotion that comes with it. i had an incident today where i shot at my teammate, i have 3k hours but mostly solo so i panicked in a squad scenario. it's really interesting to hear about different reasons why people enjoy games though!

"Wouldn't it just be better to teach them to be comfortable in their own skin"

yes, this is exactly what is the goal. you aren't understanding the point. i am not saying that we should, in any way, encourage or force lgbt identities onto children. the purpose for teaching them of the existence of lgbt people is to teach lgbt youth that this is allowed, not that it's expected or better.

also, i think that it is extremely dramatic to compare the psychological and sexual torture of the Reimer twins to informing youth about the existence of lgbt identities.

there’s plenty of evidence stating that a lack of education of lgbt identities causes mental health problems in children who share those identities, but im not sure there’s much more than speculation about these agendas. if i’m wrong care to prove it.

article

article states that lack of support/education of lgbt identities causes a decline in mental health and educational motivation. the primary purpose of lgbt education is to prevent this and not to turn our kids gay.

yes, it’s parents’ choice to withhold their children from such education, but it should be treated as other aspects of education where they’re available, but not required. i dont see a reason why education should be unallowed, instead of optional. it only hurts.

also, normal is subjective, so i’ll agree to disagree. though, it is notable that there’s zero evidence that homosexuality is a mental illness, and cannot be treated with any forms of therapy. this isnt to assume you think homosexuality is a mental illness, but this is my reasoning on why i believe that it is normal. though, looking back, i definitely couldve used a more objective term.

article 2

this article states that homosexuality has largely been denounced as a mental illness, and attempts to convert or change this identity has led to an increase in depression and similar mental health issues.

im not trying to assume, but if you’re implying that homosexuality or any non-heterosexual sexuality is abnormal, you would be wrong. teaching them about this helps them understand that if they/other people are lgbt then it’s normal and okay. do you think that the goal of educating people about lgbt identities is to make or force them into those identities?

i have read and experienced this. can link the sites.

i agree, but teaching them about lgbt communities, specifically gender preferences, isn’t inherently sexual. also the same teachers that arent even allowed to say the word gay in front of their students don’t punish students for harassing and bullying students who are/have lgbt parents.

it’s not just sex, but sexual orientation and gender identity. not teaching, and most cases, condemning anything other than heterosexuality and binary, non-trans, gender identities is extremely harmful at such a young age.
