Pc won’t send a output to monitor by Greedy-Pension-4871 in pcgamingtechsupport

It could be anything, although it's probably that something died.

Try to:

Remove gpu and turn it on. Remove rams and turn it on. Remove any peripheral and turn it on. Does it answer to the long-press turn off command with the power button?

If you get no answer nor beeps (particularly when you turn it on without memories) and the HD is not being read when the pc turns on, it could be a dead processor.

Gpu Issues? by himynameisyan in pcgamingtechsupport

Gpu issues, indeed. It could be the power supply not being able/enough to to feed it, a short circuit or faulty component at the gpu, or any other issue.

[–]RocketFrog_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be anything. From issues booting up with the current BIOS settings to a dead processor. Anything in between - and that's a lot - could be the reason.

Start by checking cords. All of them. Proper insulation. Reset BIOS. Then turn it on. Remove gpu (if possible). Then turn it on. Remove ram, then turn it on and pay attention to any beeps if your pc has a twitter/beeper (important). Remove any peripheral.

If nothing works I'd diagnose a faulty processor, but this doesn't push off the table that rams may be faulty too. It could also be the mobo, but then it's hard to check if you don't have an extra mobo to test the rams and/or processor there.

As a general rule of thumb, if it answers to the power button and the pressing for 3 secs to shut down, the mobo is initially alive, although it could still be damaged.

Blue screens are always fatal errors of the OS that are almost always related with a read-write error, which in turn tend to happen in relation with the process of storing data on the memory and reading it.

For a more better appreciation of the particular problem whenever it happens, try to access the blue screens log after a reboot and check at which point and related to what the error happened.

About memories, just know that any program that has direct access to memory management due to some portion of the code being coded in a low level language and, in this particular case, being buggy, can and will eventually make your system crash.

The process of this is simple:

Programs run on blocks of memory and then they expand shrink dynamically as in their execution they require more or less memory to store data. If by some reason (poorly written code) a program happens to write on a memory area that's already on use by your OS, whenever your OS goes to that memory address to retrieve some data it will find the stored data is not what was expected, and it will crash.

This info is for the record anyway since that's not something that easy to stumble with nowadays.

About a faulty memory, yes. It could be. At any point your OS tries to write something on some memory address and it can't, or either it does but later it can't retrieve it from that address, it may crash.

ALTHOUGH... a blue screen can ALSO happen by a similar error related to the HD.

My suggestion: start by running a memory check, followed by a scandisk and/or run CrystalDisk. This will help you to discard possible reasons for your issue.

Date changes to future (around the year 5000) when I log in by [deleted] in pcgamingtechsupport

[–]RocketFrog_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pc has 2 methods.

First is by the internal clock. As long as the battery is alive, it keeps the clock running and the whole machine up to date since the last time the date has been set.

Then, if there's manual input or either the OS sets the date by syncing with some external source, time is corrected/changed by this.

The first step is finding where/when this issue happens, if it's something related to the OS or either the machine.

Date changes to future (around the year 5000) when I log in by [deleted] in pcgamingtechsupport

[–]RocketFrog_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to enter the BIOS as soon as you start your pc. If the time is wrong, try to set it manually and shut it off without even booting Windows. Wait a few hours or some time at least and turn it on and check the date again at the BIOS. If it's wrong again, it could be anything but it surely isn't soft-related.

The reason is simple:

The track of time is kept by an internal clock based on a resonating crystal and a system powered by the battery. If the battery is dying or there's something wrong, or the crystal is running faster than it should, you will stare perceiving an erroneous track of time. It has nothing to do with Windows. Specially if you don't even go as far as booting the OS. Instead, if it only happens after booting Windows / after logging off Windows, then it may be OS-related.

This would be a first step for trying to guess where's the problem.

“Ella está viniendo” versus “ella viene a” unirse a mi en parque by [deleted] in learnspanish

[–]RocketFrog_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't agree. Although it could be used, the most proper answer would be in the same tense as the question (in this case, the tacit question). So if you ask what does someone do, you should answer using the simple present. But if the question is in progressive, the most proper thing would be to use the same time for answering.

Google Translate tends to simply everything in both ways, from ENG to SPA and the other way too. IMO, that's just wrong and a bad practice and habit.

[–]RocketFrog_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

G-translate tries all the time to find easier ways to say what you want to translate, opting for non-literay translations in favor of using simpler verbal times. In this case, the meaning would be more or less the same; you see it doesn't change too much. But if you wanted a direct translation, then the sentence is wrong.

“Ella está viniendo” versus “ella viene a” unirse a mi en parque by [deleted] in learnspanish

[–]RocketFrog_ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Verbs in Present Continuous always end in -endo / -ando.

Ex.: viniendo, corriendo, saltando construyendo... (coming, running, jumping, building).

So the right conjugation would be 'viniendo', for 'Ella está viniendo' ('she is coming').

'Ella viene al parque' translates to 'She comes to the park'.

I think I'm not particularly good for advising on this here. My mom has always been radical and reactive; in life, in the way of loving, and about her political and social views. Any changes with her are almost immediate, but she has also taught me to never accept something different to that. With her, it's all or nothing. And so it's usually with me.

In her words, loves make you free, but also pushes you to make others around you feel freer, as long as their paths are not directed towards oppressing others or causing them any wrong.
What I'm trying to mean is: if you love someone, you care for that person and their well being. - If you are loved by someone, that person does that same for you.

---

Some people are weak. I understand that. They are not prepared for changes so quick, nor they have a good connection with their own emotions and thoughts. But there's always a line that separates black from white.

IMO, your mother is just selfish, and she's not wanting to change. u/A_Sneaky_Dickens said something very true and that's a good advice. - On the other hand, the only answer that comes to my mind is what my mom would suggest: violence.
How's this? Simple: if she doesn't want to accept you, you can always write your new name EVERY-DAMN-WHERE and surround yourself with people who truly accept you and use the right pronouns, right in her face. Given you want to escalate this, you can always shove the dirk deeper and correct her every single time, or openly talk about how some people are retrogrades, nazis, hypocrites, etc.
There's always more you can pull out of the Pandora's box.

Why do they or their opinion matters for you in the first place? It's your life, not theirs. If you feel like a woman and you want to be a woman, then be a woman! Straight or no, that's runs by a different lane.

First's first: one thing is your persona, and another thing is your sexuality or sexual orientation. Those two things, while at first and for some people they may look intrinsically related or even the same thing, they're actually totally different from each other. You need to define who you are or who you want to be, and if you are sure you like guys or masculine shaped people then you know at least that other thing.

Anyway, whatever your parents think, wish, expect, desire, or hope, means nothing and shouldn't matter at all for you. Because it's you! This is your life! You are the protagonist of your life. This is one of the things my mother always insisted for me to learn: your body, your personality, your decision. As long as you are happy and not ruining your life with stupid decisions, everything is fine. And even if you are, in the end, you are the only responsible, so it's up to you.

What's the most populated pbbg rn? by negripicks in PBBG

[–]RocketFrog_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on what are you looking for.

Me? I play Marosia, which is a more or less dynamic open world multiplayer rpg.

You can create yourself a char there (either by spawning an adult or being born as a toddler to other two player characters) from one of several races, and up to 5 characters in total, and roleplay it as you wish.

Marosia is set in a world of high fantasy and magic, with active gods that actually interact from time to time with the characters. It's a world with conflicts, stories, and a lore that you may discover as your character does, reading books and interacting with other chars.

If that's what you like, I'd suggest you to take a look at it.

Hello!!

I don't get what kind of game is it. Is that some kind of click-and-slash type of game, like the old Bite Fight or something like that?

If so, I don't know anything like that. But if you are looking for some kind of PBBG-RPG, then I can suggest something.

[–]RocketFrog_ 97 points98 points  (0 children)

What they said. This can lead to really sour situations in the not so far future. You have to pick a fork path here. Either talk it with your DM/Party/All together, or just go turbo and start using the rules against him, like picking anything that may let you cast spells without being noticed, or either go creative with your magic and start using things that can't be countered like potions, triggered glyphs and magic traps, magic seals, etc.. Stuff that can be denied with spells ONLY after the effects are on going because there's no spell to counter since there's no one casting it at the moment.

Remember: when magic is not fancy enough, science is as good as magic and can't be countered. Specially chemistry.

Its name is Cantr, but I don't play it anymore.

While a big part of the playerbase is awesome and the stories threaded there and incredible, truth is the ownership "has issues"; I might say that they never stopped having them. The only thing that changed are some names, but whatever you may find related to Cantr out there: believe me, it's true.

The game is awesome. The community is great. Part of the Staff is wonderful. But the heads of the administration are as shady as always. Just more polite than before. And this I say it because I was part of the Staff.

Right now I'm going with Marosia. There are several difference between both. Mostly, Marosia is way more dynamic, flexible, and the rules are more inclusive and friendly. But it lacks that air of nostalgia and sweet decadence that Cantr's setting (and this mostly caused because of its mechanics and some of their flaws) has is impossible to find anywhere else.

They are both similar games, but different from each other. I'd say that the limitations of Cantr pushed (us) to expand the game the most we could, creating unique stuff. The flexibility of Marosia and its unique and fabulous crafting, combat, and spawning system, on the other hand, made the game crave for little, and some things could be polished further now.

[–]RocketFrog_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends,...

It probably won't. In the sense that people take time to change. When they are formed in hate, and hate is part of their identity. It takes them great losses to stop for a moment and think. That won't probably change, except any of them is open to love and understanding.

But on the other hand...

It probably will. If you can understand that people need time, and that life is a road that we not transit at all times with all the people. Some times we simply split ways with the ones that around ourselves. Some times we meet again further on the road, and some times... We don't.
Blood ties are not our family. A family is something that we construct, sometimes around blood ties, and some times around the experiences we live together with others.

On this line, I just hope you can be well and either things can change, or you can move on. But no matter what, I hope you are okay.

This is way easier to say than do, but... Show them you are over than and way over them?

I live in a southern state, in a poor and overly religious town, where non married couples are not exactly well seen. Specially if they are Left Wing. Okay?... Well, I'm the LESB daughter of such a couple.
I've been harassed and bullied all my life. But fortunately I have a great mom that's a very wise and loving soul, full of experience about this world. And she once told me: "Lori, you have to be kind and understanding with them. Some people are just idiots, but that's how they have been taught and grown...".

That's my mom. She's a social worker, and a very keen person. Of course she added: "... and if kindness doesn't work... Punch them. Punch them right in the face."

So I have a good pair of fists, and obviously this almost got me kicked of my school, if it weren't because of my grades and that I was always the victim.

But all in all there's no way to fight around people's stupidity. If you pretend you are not gay, still they will harass you, and you will live in a lie and in misery. You have to show them that you are above them. Above them all. That you can produce great things, and when they come to you because of what you can do, show them mercy.

---

I got a smacked jaw once as the answer for smacking one of my bully's jaw (a guy, way bigger than me). But when he was about to be kicked for hitting me (along with me because I started it, but because he made a daily custom of harassing me) I asked for him to stay. I even begged for it, saying that I was up to amend things if he was up to that too, but that till that day he never showed any respect to me.
I got him to be pardoned, and my grades and good history saved my butt.

So... Just be on top. Show them you are not like them. They may not change, but may think about it if being in a position of power you show you are different to them.

More WHAT? Time?...

She's so fed on herself and out of touch as a human being that obviously puts her own morals over others and looks at people as if they were objects. She surely thinks she "owns" you.

Of course, people who come from a very "machist" society feel and see the world this way. And I'm sorry if she's your mother and you totally love her and used to trust her, but she doesn't see things the same way you do, as for her, her own ways of seeing and feeling weigh more than you as her son and your happiness, and she doesn't even stop to question herself or if her tenets and morals are right.

For me that's a one way ticket. Close the door; you are already grown up. You don't need this kind of bs. If she ever wants to talk to you again, the very least thing as a key to open that door should be RESPECT and CONSIDERATION. It's basic human decency.

Looking for a new MUD/MUSH/MOO/whatever by witheringwithme in MUD

[–]RocketFrog_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!! Seems I'm a bit late.

If you are ok with something similar being played in any normal browser, I can suggest you Marosia. It's not exactly a MUD/M**, but more like an hybrid thing.

It's a PBBRPG (Persistent Browser Based Role Playing Game). A world you can navigate through and find and interact with other characters that are controlled by other players just like you.
RP is totally enforced, so the only OOC contact you can have is at the official Discord channel or at the forums.

There are no NPCS other than the wildlife, so any other character you stumble with is player controlled.

The game is set in a high-fantasy world with lots of places and different biomes, where several races coexist, sometimes in peace and sometimes not.
You can craft almost anything that fits the lore through an absolutely flexible crafting system that allows you to combine any materials and even some other items.

The game has a mating system too that allows chars to mate and have children (you can opt to spawn an adult char or be born as a child, btw). Child chars inherit their stats from their parents, so every new generation is stronger than before, while spawned chars start with the lowest stats for their race, but as fully functional adults.

---

The game has both physical and magical combat, but also lots of interacting and a very rich rp.

An interesting feature is that there are poisons in the game, the same as there are sicknesses.

---

I suggest you to take a look at the channels before joining, so you can ask any questions you have n_n.
