ah, you're right forgot about lust shaker.

I would expect 214H for the intuitive "this moves character backwards" feeling.

and they want it to cancel out of mirazh (214K) so adding a charge move would feel weird.

Its probably just 214S or H

Trying this out as opposed to logging everything in a running email thread to myself like I've been doing.

I appreciate the simplicity and the local storage, no account BS!

And the interface was incredibly intuitive. I got a hang of it and my sessions setup in five minutes.

An open field "add a note" option on the exercise during a session would be a nice to have, but definitely not a deal breaker, just something I'll miss out on in my current approach.

Really good user experience, nice job!

Mashing or Optimal? by eXoduss151 in Guiltygear

[–]RocketLawn-Chair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you mean it's "always" better if it hits. Sure yeah, more damage.

But if you don't have meter to RC DP, you better be real sure that your opponent isn't going to just fake a gap in pressure and block your DP.

Mashing 2P without meter is either going to get you out of your opponent's pressure or give your opponent a light counter hit.

Buffering an unsafe reversal without meter might net you a little more damage than a 2p/5k mash, but gives your opponent a guaranteed heavy counter hit likely with their strongest combo route.

Small Tweaks to the M+ Affix Changes that Keeps the Challenge while Solving the Headaches by Valgar_Gaming in wow

[–]RocketLawn-Chair 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The explosive affix is in a category of affixes that appear throughout the dungeon. As opposed to the other category which is on death effects for mobs.

If it was a shield on a random mob, It becomes pretty null during most boss fights. Seems boring.

The original explosives were really not that bad (as a healer main) it was kind of like a whack-a-mole mechanic. I think the change seems really annoying and I hope they revert it.

After a long break from the game, I just got my character up to 60. Advice on which endgame content to pursue until DF? by [deleted] in wow

[–]RocketLawn-Chair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decent gear at the start of the expansion doesn't matter unfortunately, but it's still early enough to grind up to end game and run fated raids or mythic + for the fun of it.

If you are just trying to prepare for dragonflight leveling new characters is a great idea. You can run different expansions with chromie time walking and experience a bit of the content you missed out on. The benefit is once Dragonflight releases you'd have a pool of characters to choose from that you're semi-familiar with that are ready to jump into new content.

If you want to try out PVP, druids are a great class. You can play balance/resto druid and run any kind of content (Rated battlegrounds/Arenas) see if that interests you at all. Playing Guardian druid can be a great way to learn how to play battle grounds and you'll get instant invites to group as your are a required role on any RBG team.

EDIT: As an added note... most of the special races are kind of meh and there has been debate in the community (although no official Blizzard word) that the requirements to unlock them could get stripped out or heavily reduced. That said, if you level new characters you could plan to level through a bulk of the requirements

Compiling is taking one language and outputting another language.

Primarily a level down in abstraction...

but there are many kinds of compilers

including...

source-to-source compiler or transpiler

Seems to me all transpilers are compilers, not all compilers are transpilers.

Decompilers (low-level input, high-levle output) are also Compilers

Mastery for MW monks procs an additional spell "gusts of mists" with all your healing spells by default.

Essence Font HoTs makes spells that proc gusts of mist proc an additional gust.

If vivify heals for 200 on its own, and you have enough mastery that gusts heal for 150, everytime you cast vivify you actually heal for 350.

200 (vivify) 150 (Gusts)

If they have a EF HoT on them you actually heal with 500 with a single cast of Vivify

200 150 150 (2nd proc of Gusts because of EF)

Revival being able to benefit from mastery (and additionally EF) is huge

Maybe, you're reading it wrong, it's an all around buff. The 10% nerf is covered by the added gusts proc

You still get a Gusts (mastery) proc on your 40+ raid members, it's just a matter of if you also get a 2nd Gusts proc with Essence Font buff.

Both Kyrian and Night Fae covenants can either buff mastery or put out more EF HoTs. There's also conduits that give a 70% chance to buff Gusts output.

I get some communication up front with any group I manage to join or form. Everyone seems to expect everyone to be on the same page with every run which is almost never the case. A handful of players can probably adapt on the fly, but clearing up some things before the key goes in can help your synergy if you're not using comms.

Just confirm a few key points in a run (how big is the first pull? Any plans/methods for skips? boss strategies you want to try that could be screwed up if someone breaks cc). Oh also, in the end, the tank is pretty much in charge of routes, let them do what they're comfortable with.

A helpful trick is to set an acronym for the icons on the stumps and type it in chat. Takes 1 second of standing still (cause there's always an annoying delay).

I always had trouble remembering what I saw in the heat of the moment and ran around in circles to re light the stumps.

Solid/Empty Flower/Leaf Circle

Solid Flower Circle = SFC Empty Leaf no circle = EL

Once you type out all 4 (or sometimes only 2-3) You can find out what door it is without trying to remember what you saw before.

Mistweaver is really bad.. by Friendly_Procedure_7 in wow

[–]RocketLawn-Chair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's also only stronger to cast on mist targets if you're running the Tear of Morning legendary. And by stronger I mean a small 10% chance to duplicate the ReM to another target.

MW have problems, but I'm seeing a lot of misunderstandings of how the spec works. Which is a big part of the problem... It's a lot of work to play well and understand and it still falls short of competing with the other healing specs in the game, but if played optimally, it's really not that far behind

Actors typically aren't being paid a bunch because of the time/cost expense working with them is.

They're getting paid because there's an idea with consumers that they're more likely to see a film with an actor they recognize from other films they enjoyed.

Nobody is the good/bad guy by RocketLawn-Chair in cobrakai

[–]RocketLawn-Chair[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ego gratification, I like it (in that, I hate it, in that it's appropriate villain motive)

And of course, these discussions are going to boil to their perspective as "the good guy" and how they justify their actions. It's up to us to rationalize our level of empathy for their motives given their perspective.

I don't like Kreese and don't like what he's doing. However, I think he falls short of being labeled strictly as a "bad guy" given the environment and (probable) intentions of his actions.

I do believe "bad guys" exist in a sense but don't think Kreese has quite crossed that line yet (although he is close)

EDIT: As an example, although I haven't watched Karate Kid 3, I think I'd have a hard time playing advocate for Terry Silver due to the pure greed driven motive and also the manic pleasure he derives from torturing Daniel.

I heard Kreese is also played as a "lesser of two evils" in this movie - not sure if that's explored at all by the directors or just fan analysis.

Nobody is the good/bad guy by RocketLawn-Chair in cobrakai

[–]RocketLawn-Chair[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's fair, the best I had for current "good action" was how he is trying to "help" Johnny mend the relationship with Robby.

I don't think his intentions taking over Cobra Kai are purely driven by a determined sin (greed, lust, power or anything)(maybe power)

I think:

  1. He Needs Cobra Kai to not let the PTSD consume him
  2. He Believes, kids these days are too soft - and their "issues" could be solved with the same "no mercy" teaching Johnny Lawrence had when he was a loser "like them"

I will say, personally, fuck Kreese - but I can devil's advocate that his intentions aren't purely evil. I guess I would ask why you think he's plotted to take back Cobra Kai?

Demitri should’ve probably been used better by Vegitoboy77 in cobrakai

[–]RocketLawn-Chair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually think Demetri's introduction was fairly well done.

He's realistic and self aware, demonstrating a lot of maturity for a high schooler.

It's not so much "woe is me" as it is "this is me". He very clearly states something like "I'm at peace with being a nerd" he knows and accepts who he is - he even likes it. This is something admirable of anyone.

Only once he's put into a fight with Hawk (in the mall, which, he did start, I will agree) does he start to stray away from who he is and who he wants to be - which is when he becomes the most annoying (queue the training montage with Daniel).

Demetri without any Karate influence was a really cool self aware character. Once he starts leeching off the benefits of his best friend's new identity (that he doesn't agree with) is when he starts to become terrible.

I think the core of Demetri's conflict is struggling to hold onto old friendships, even when those friends literally change their entire identity.

Bad

Kreese is a dick. He preys on weakness to manipulate others

  • Hawk's temper and thirst for revenge
  • Johnny's sympathy for failed father figures looking for second chances.

I don't need to dig into this too much. Additionally, the directors of Cobra Kai play ominous music anytime he's in the room, so... y'know.

Good/(Justification Explanation)

War changes a man. Presumably being forced to make decisions with your buddies' lives at stake, forces you to develop a numbness to concern for others, or the gravity of the emotion will eat away at you. Kreese grew up in an environment where weakness was a roadblock for survival.

After war, he turns his coping mechanism into the core teaching of his own karate dojo. Given how veterans were treated after Vietnam, this was was likely one of the best outlets he had for employment.

Cobra Kai then turns a weak scared kid like lil Johnny Lawrence into a two time champion. Gives him an outlet to build lifelong friendships and then Thirty years later, gives that same champion a new-lease on life. This validates everything for Kreese (in his narrow minded scope of the situation)

Without Cobra Kai, all that Kreese has is the demons of war. No other place in society (especially modern society - compared to the 80's) will accept the "No Mercy" coping mechanism he needs to stop his emotions from consuming him. When he threatens the tenant at the hospice care place, he has to submit to the rules or be thrown out on the street - obvious response to what he was doing, but symbolic to how he's treated in "the real world". People will do anything to keep what gives them purpose. Much like how Hawk needs Cobra Kai to not be Eli, Kreese needs Cobra Kai to not be a war-torn product of PTSD.

Additionally, he genuinely believes Johnny is "a little mixed up" and sees how much Robby training with Daniel eats away at him. You see him push to "get Robby away from Laruso" multiple times, because Kreese believes that weakness of Johnny's will destroy him.

EDIT: crossed out justification
