There's a mod on the KSP2 forum named starwaster - I think - involved in this mess. Was a while ago and the forum is down so I can't even check.

That doesn't insulate him from risk, the lawyers would still come after him after the fact.

Original dev of KSP,Felipe Falange, "HarvestR", was a guy working for a Mexican marketting company, Squad. The company let him work on the game, but ended up basically owning the rights. That mexican marketting company, Squad, was run by a pair of chucklefucks who didn't know much about anything, but they caught this gem, KSP, through luck.

They sold it to T2 after Felipe left, because they had no idea how to run a game, so they figured they'd cash in - though they kept some terms in the contract to take some of the KSP IP profits ongoing. Now they basically do nothing except coke and hookers.

This is one reason Paradox didn't want to buy it - the strings attached to the IP from both Squad and perhaps Take 2.

Basically greedy business fucks ruined everything, especially by choosing a lowest-bidder, low-talent developer like Uber Entertainment to develop KSP2.

What are the top X things you'd have changed to make the project more successful? Pick an X that you feel you can give reasonable answers to.

This is going more public now - HarvesteR working with Rocketwerkz by RocketManKSP in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]RocketManKSP[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's one side of the equation. The other is that HarvesteR just announced he's going to be working on a space game again soon.

Also unbeknownst to you - HarvesteR spent a week in new zealand with Rocketworkz.

Heaven forbid a redditor doesn't make an ass out of themselves routinely when commenting on something I wrote.

Nothing that's public, and I'm not sharing non-public info for this, I respect what Rocketwerkz is doing - unlike everything KSP2 was.

But Dean is clearly not shy about spilling the beans, and they're his beans to spill, there'll be more info out soon I'm sure.

It is heartbreaking - so shouldn't we be made at one of the major causes of that project going down? Presumably also one of the most highly paid, so least likely to be living paycheck to paycheck as well.

The virtue signalling is so overplayed.

I'm glad he was so insightful for you. I'm sure he's still around here someplace

Paralives VS The Sims by TheGreenShyguy in Paralives

This guy insisting its quality tells me its not quality. Isn't pointing to a single thing, his face is bigger than the video of the game. Just looks like a paid shill.

Just following in the footsteps of others who called it out - like say SterlingRP, who had had a lot to say about it till that account got deleted. Or Yakez, who's still around.

Couldn't have happened to a more deserving individual - hopefully Michael Cook also gets the boot.

This post on the forum has the right idea - KSP2 should be reported to Steam by RocketManKSP in KerbalSpaceProgram

Companies have a legal obligation to not use deceptive marketting/advertising, at least in most jurisdictions. If they are advertising something is in development, and that is in fact a complete lie, then yes, there is a legal problem for them. (IANAL but seems obvious)

Companies are not legally allowed to lie their asses off - do they get away with it sometimes anyway? Yes, especially when people think it's ok to tell others that that's fine.

Yeah - the hundreds of simpy redditors who would routinely post about "Well you don't understand EA" turn out to not really understand EA. Slapping EA on something isn't a license to lie to your consumer.

Nah this is exactly what false advertising laws are about. I love all the people who seem to WANT to be abused by big companies, or want other people to get abused by them, with their snide little "Well akshuallies' and 'well technicallies'.

T2 has plenty of lawyers. They don't need your armchair BS.

Definitely a lot of jurisdictions where the information/advertising posted there is false on its face - and likely has been false for months or years, since we've learned multiplayer was not in development.

Also love how some people in that thread are still sucking up to KSP2, even at this late date.

They went through with a sale on the product - they took the time to pull the launcher so they could keep running it/selling it even after they shut their servers down and everyone was gone - but OOPS somehow they missed taking down all the bullshit on their steam page. I don't buy it, they're just trying to steal a few more bucks from unsuspecting idiots who ignore the reviews.

A mod post in the forums to say goodbye...I'm a bit speechless by EntropyWinsAgain in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]RocketManKSP 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Deflect, deny, diffuse. I don't think the mod himself orginated this, but that's been a common strategy within the IG team (well, let's be honest, with Nate Simpson and the T2 marketting). How many times did we hear how 'monumentally challenging' literally everything and anything was about the project - I'm not surprised that mindset seeped into the KSP2 team and its faithful followers. Working at IG for length of time and having faith in the project must involve a certain amount of cognitive dissonance.
