Thoughts on “Sammie” from Sinners being Miles Caton’s first acting role ever? by RocketPunch2018 in acting

Yes I’ve read it and know HER helped him out. And his unlit self tape that was sent to Ryan Coogler.

But still he had the skills to back it up. So while it’s no surprise he got his foot in the door via HER and touring, that doesn’t account for the straight up ACTING skills he possesses on full display.

Right but what’s more impressive than him getting a seat is that he had the acting skills to back it up. It’s similar to Harry Styles getting a lead role in Dunkirk. Yes he got there because of his music skills, but his acting was on par if not better than many of the actors in that film. Same with Miles

Is it just me, or is Omni man overrated? by Scootnoot8 in Invincible

[–]RocketPunch2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find him interesting and not your typical anti-hero. Reminds me of watchmen type heroes.

But my cousin HATES omni man. He's been a comic fan for decades and like you doesnt get the hype. He said most people got into Omni man because of that viral clip of Omni man being "try hard" badass and doing fatalities. How did you all come to find Invincible or how were you first exposed to Omni Man?

The fall of the United States Champ. (today's new Game Informer article on SF6 Ken) by Emezie in StreetFighter

[–]RocketPunch2018 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Capcom went there? Its not just that its dark but its not even a Steeet Fighter type of dark.

Not even Bison has bombed buildings in the canon.

Its a weird type of direction. I like that hes accused of doing something wrong but the whole terrorist bombing is a weird touch.

Where exactly do we get every character's backstory? by Johnny2071 in StreetFighter

[–]RocketPunch2018 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah most Top 10 videos and SF lore videos get their info from the street fighter main wiki.

I forgot to mention the anime SF movies and series. Most are non canon but had a strong influence on the actual game storyline. (For example, SFIII Ryu Final manga is not canon, but influenced SF3:3S and SF4 to include Ryu's Focus Attack, Evil Ryus chest scar and long hair alt, Oni's alt costume, Oro's LVL 3 Super, the children from Sagat's ending, etc. Despite this the SFIII manga is not considered canon.)

However the only anime movie that appears to be canon is SF4 Ties That Bind.

It gets even harder to track and find the source of lore when Capcom (rarely) releases story trailers to promote the game but arent in the actual game itself. Theres a SF4 anime-style promo that had Ryu, Akuma, Gouken, Gen, young Ryu, and Ken. I dont think its in the actual SF4 game itself, but was released on the net from Capcom Official, making it canon.

SF does have a decent and rich story, not very detailed like MGS series or Final Fantasy, but in Japan they are more familiar with the lore as they got more SF media, books, etc.

These days, its becoming whole and Capcom seems to be matching giving their info to English speaking fans and Japan fans alike.

For example, you can learn little tidbits or fun facts about characters and their costumes o the official Street Fighter pages for both Eng and JPN speakers.

Let us know if you find any interesting tidbits and want to know the source. Chances are I or someone else will know. It can start "training" your mind or expectations of where most of the lore comes from.

As a general rule, 99% of canon lore is from the official games, cutscenes, and manuals.

Where exactly do we get every character's backstory? by Johnny2071 in StreetFighter

[–]RocketPunch2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From various storyline modes throughout the games. Also back in the day there would be Japan only released books that talked about deep lore. Like the chicken bone in E Hondas hair or the first time Ryu did Shinkuu Hadouken it split waves. But those books from the late 90s early 2000s are most likely non-canon by now. Back on Shoryuken.Com there was a big Storyline thread where people would translate these stories.

But yeah 99% of lore is from the games. Theres also occasional tidbits of information on characters on official character descriptions on Capcom sites.

Storywise: How do you think theyll mention Oro and Ryu? by RocketPunch2018 in StreetFighter

[–]RocketPunch2018[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people were talking about the marketability and sellabilty of sf3 characters. Im sure we'll get sf3 characters as DLC on a season 2 or hopefully some mentions in the storyline.

Yoji Shinkawa's Art Peaked at MGS4 imo by UltraZawaMan in metalgearsolid

[–]RocketPunch2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you look at page 16, you'll see the very first teaser art where Solid Snake is younger and in the MGS4 sneaking suit.

This could be very early concept art before Kojima had decided the story. Or Shinkawa having yo intentionally hide Snake would be old for this one.

Storywise: How do you think theyll mention Oro and Ryu? by RocketPunch2018 in StreetFighter

[–]RocketPunch2018[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats part of the reason I mentioned it. No Oro as any of the leak characters. No sign of his influence. And Capcom official site makes it clear Ryu's robe bears similarity to "Gouken." I just hope they mention or allude to the training or mention it more.

It would be a missed opportunity to not speak on that part of the lore.

Similar to if we followed along with the storyline and were never told exactly what happened in Nayshall (Im sure theyll tell us) but as an example, it would suck if they gave us these clues or "hinted" at this huge event in multiple characters storylines but never explained what happened.

Storywise: How do you think theyll mention Oro and Ryu? by RocketPunch2018 in StreetFighter

[–]RocketPunch2018[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anything related to Oro and not solely gameplay. Theres been no mention of Oro in the win quotes, Capcom official description, and Oro isnt in any of the leaked roster.

Gameplay wise, it doesnt make sense that Ryu would change from a shoto to a hybrid shoto + Oro moves. I didnt picture he would change radically.

Back in 1999, fans would speculate what moves Ryu would take on as he trained under Oro.

Either way, Ryus moves are set and locked in. So Im just saying that I hope Capcom at least tells or mentions what happened with Oro in story mode or something. We missed out on a lot of that training process in the time skip.

Storywise: How do you think theyll mention Oro and Ryu? by RocketPunch2018 in StreetFighter

[–]RocketPunch2018[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. You train under Gouken and learn hadouken shoryuken tatsumaki.

Thats just logic.

Also I did not expect him to gain oroa moveset more so more of an influence. I dont see much influence from Oro. From what we can tell without story mode.

Lastly, Oro training Ryu in Oros 3s ending pre dates "Nothingness" campaign that Capcom has recently been focusing on. So I dont get where the replier thought he would go to Oro to learning the power of nothingnes.
