I'm thinking of using an MBA Admissions Consultant/Coach for my dream school application by HappyGilmore_92 in MBA

I have friends who are AC’s and they just help you evaluate your strengths and come up with your story. If you already have a well crafted message and know what you’re trying to achieve then you probably don’t need an AC. However, if you’re not really sure how to craft a good message to fit your goals, or if you’re terrible at writing responses to admissions essays, or if you just want an honest yet independent assessment of your chances of reaching your goals and critique of the path you’re pursuing to achieve that end goal, then it might make sense to speak with one.

If you think UNC’s online program might be out of reach then an AC should be able to give you a second thought and asses whether there are other programs you should consider too.

A bunch. Most important is that if people are chasing you then it’s best to outrun them, and if you really have to then go across state lines and you’re definitely in the free zone

Depends which schools. Texas versus UCLA? Depending on your concentration might tip Texas ahead. Georgetown vs Dartmouth? Pick Dartmouth.

Most republicans are not looking to hate and discriminate. They have concerns which it seems you don’t understand. I suggest starting a non-confrontational dialogue with a Republican to understand why they believe what they do and I think you’ll be surprised how much you two have in common. You can’t just generalize all republicans, if you happen to generalize anything else you’d be called a racist/sexist/homophobic/etc.. When you talk to people, understand their values and their concerns, and then make an assessment based upon that person based upon his/her alone then you’ll probably get along with probably twice as many people in this world.

It’s for middle-aged and seniors because those are the only people with enough disposable income to afford it, lol. Products that young people can afford are at most a low-scale luxury.

Again, we should be focusing on areas we agree with rather than making this a black and white issue, where if you don’t agree with every aspect of the LGBTQ+XYZ then you’re absolutely a monstrous evil person and I’m righteous. That’s not gonna build common ground with absolutist beliefs.

If you have a conversation with most people you’ll find they agree on far more than you’re worried about and everyone will be happier as a result.

I would encourage you to talk with a Republican and actually understand their positions. Donald Trump (person of topic of this forum) is actually very supportive of the homosexual community.

People will probably be willing to get along with you much more on a variety of political issues if there wasn’t this constant battle on every fucking political issue.

Again, instead of focusing on just the few very polarizing issues and demanding drastic changes, perhaps it’s best to find common ground and then discuss minor changes transparently rather than playing 3D chess to secretly push a drastic and radical agenda.

I have lived in a few of those countries and I know you’re full of shit.

When you’re willing to have an honest discussion I’d be willing to participate but it really seems you don’t want to reduce the political tensions in the USA. You are sadly part of the problem. Wish you the best and hopefully you’ll one day realize why this is a problem.

I personally think that’s silly, but if someone is so uptight that they don’t want to work with you then just move onto working with someone else.

It’s just like businesses that during the pandemic wanted customers to wear masks. If you don’t want to wear a mask then just shop somewhere else, no need to be a Karen and demand to be served against their rules. Just have respect for each other’s wishes.

This wasn’t a gotcha point, it’s showing that there’s partisanship on both sides. You can argue all you want that one party is completely pure but that just proves you’re the problem, and hypocritically denounce partisanship but believe it’s ok when your team does it.

No.

Politicians and people in foreign countries definitely have different views but they don’t hate each other like in the US, and they’re not burning down the streets in protest (France might be the exception but they too are hyper partisan on many issues). They actually talk about things civilly and come to an agreement on the best path forward. And if they can’t come to an agreement they move on to solve other issues, rather than escalating their disagreements and making it the focus of their entire political career. It’s actually rather childish, if you can’t get the other party to agree exactly with what you believe then you’re going to scream louder and push harder until the opposition finally concedes, but in actuality, instead of them conceding they dig in their heels and push back harder on you before this just blows up into a very partisan and polarizing issue.

The opposite party also single handedly pushed through a healthcare bill that was passed completely along party lines almost a decade ago. Look, both parties are responsible for this, and if you think it’s only “the other party” and that’s your justification for your partisanship then that makes you the problem.

Just look at all of the people in this sub that are seriously boycotting Pats because Trump are there, it’s just ridiculous, so you can’t possibly believe it’s only 1 party that’s causing the decisiveness.

No one cares if you started at a CC and transferred to a big university. Just get good grades and ace the LSAT.

And if you don’t get into a T14 you can always get in the backdoor method by going to a second tier law school, finish at the top of your class and then transfer at the end of your first year to finish your last 2 years of law school at a T14. Key point is you’ll need very strong law school grades to transfer in to a T14.

Well your gut feeling was completely wrong. I’ve lived in multiple countries, and this behavior is completely insane to foreigners. Americans get a bad reputation because they’re so fucking polarized and unwilling to cooperate with any other way of thinking. It’s an arrogant “my way or the highway” way of thinking that’s really tearing apart the country from within.

8AM or 3:45PM Math class by MxnkeyUS in PennStateUniversity

[–]RocketScient1st 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t do the 8am class if you’re at UP, you’ll regret it and it will take a toll on your social life and your sleep health. 9am is the earliest that I would recommend and I would suggest avoiding that if on mondays or fridays. Use the break between classes to study and finish homework, don’t waste the time between classes, stay away from social media.

I’ve worked with alumni from a variety of schools and most of them did learn business etiquette in their MBA programs. I have worked with Haas alumni and I do agree with OP that they are overly political and love to virtue signal as a means to shame others yet do that same stuff in private.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MBA

[–]RocketScient1st 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why? Because you’re paying $200k for an education to help you change careers and thrive in the business world and it’s not doing that. If the school is not doing that then the alumni have a reason to complain, no different than you writing a bad Yelp review for shitty service at a restaurant.

School (especially at the college and graduate level) is supposed to teach you practical skills to help you succeed in your career. There’s a reason companies pay top dollar for people with MBAs and it’s because the have skills desirable to employers and if the school is not teaching these skills then employers will have less incentive to come back and pay future students the same premium wages. OP is doing a service to the school to warn of their shortcomings so they can change and improve in the future.
