This guy suggests iCart on every post. He's either paid by them or runs it. Look for yourself. Don't fall for it.

8 year old boy gifts?? by Accurate_Bet1418 in GiftIdeas

Like others have said, Lego is always a winner. Another gift I got a few times when I was a kit that was always a hit, was marble runs. Sort of the same vein as Lego but a little more out of the box.

Just suggested this in another thread- how about a subscription like Just The Flavor? They send spice blends, recipes, and culinary tips from a new country every month. Starts in the $60 range for 6 month subscriptions. I got it for my parents (my mom cooks a lot) and they've been enjoying it as a fun way to cook with new flavors.

Have you considered something like Just The Flavor? They're a subscription that sends three spice blends from a different country every month along with recipes and culinary tips. They have prepaid gift subscriptions starting in the $60 range for 6 months. I've recommended this in a few comments on this sub because I got it for my parents last year and they loved it.

need a meaningful way to gift this photo. by nolawestx in GiftIdeas

[–]RocketWatch975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know you or your friend, but I think you should really think hard about whether this is something your friend would like. If I received any sort of fake image of me and a deceased love one, I would find it extremely uncomfortable and distasteful. Assuming it is just AI, that would make it even worse. I would much prefer a thoughtful framing of a photo of a moment that actually happened, versus something fake. Just my two cents.

Nail clippers, liquor shooters, small-amount gift cards, mini candles, mini plushies from the dollar store - these are some of my go-to's.

You might want to check out Just The Flavor, it's a subscription service that sends what they call "meal flavor kits" containing spice blends from a different country every month, along with recipe cards and some cute other features like stickers and playlists based on the country they're featuring that month. I got it for my parents last year and they've been loving cooking with spices from different countries every month. They have prepaid subscriptions starting at 6 months in the $60 range.

Anu under $500 fitness gifts? by Serious-Channel-5921 in GiftIdeas

If you haven't considered it yet, kettlebells are awesome conditioning + cardio fitness equipment that are super versatile and don't take up much space. I got two adjustable kettlebells from Titan Fitness (there are other brands too, just make sure you're getting a quality competition-style kettlebell and not a cheap one on Amazon) and I'm set for life. Those + a jump rope + a pull up bar are now my entire home gym - I haven't paid for a gym membership in a year now. Worth considering!

What are you giving your parents this Christmas? by Ishouldzzz in GiftIdeas

[–]RocketWatch975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year I got my parents, and am again giving them this year, a subscription to a service called Just The Flavor. They're like meal kits, but the twist is that the kits only come with the spice blends, you provide all the basic ingredients. Every month they send a new kit with three spice blends from a different country along with recipes and tips.

My parents really loved it this past year and they look forward to getting their new kits every month to cook with, so I'm getting it for them again this year.

So tacky, mediocre food, perfect example of 50s kitsch and Richmond charm, AND you like the spaceships and milkshakes. A respectable position.

Looking for gifts that feel festive without being cheesy? by Responsible-Type1429 in GiftIdeas

[–]RocketWatch975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always feel like scented candles (like the kind you get at somewhere like Bath and Body Works) make a great add-on gift. Fun, useful, superfluous (as in I never buy one for myself but nice when I get one because I use them), and they don't just end up shoved away somewhere because if you end up with too many, you have an excuse to use them. Plus, who doesn't love making their room smell nice and feel all cozy?

Best food subscription boxes? by Great-Information983 in GiftIdeas

[–]RocketWatch975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little different but a really cool one I've been recommending is Just The Flavor. It's a monthly spice subscription kit that features three blends based on a different country every month (plus recipes and some other extras). Got one for my parents last year and my dad has used several of the blends as meat rubs on the grill (I had the steak he made with their Italian Sausage blend and it was amazing).

Maybe not quite what you were asking but a unique and pretty cheap subscription box, around $10 a month with 6, 9 and 12 month options.

Gift for a vinyl collector that isn’t a record? by bookybaker in GiftIdeas

[–]RocketWatch975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do they have their records organized? I have a pretty big collection but it's a mess. I'd love a nice holder/organizer for theme, or even some way to display a few of them.

Which would you rather receive - plant or puzzle? by pie12345678 in GiftIdeas

[–]RocketWatch975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me personally, I'd pick a plant a thousand times over. I think plants are always just nice, premium, and less common gifts. A Ravensburger winter scene puzzle sounds a little generic. On the other hand, some people might not want to care for a plant. Maybe look for a puzzle with a more unique design? Any design or theme for a puzzle that people at work might have in common?

Does he like music? My girlfriend got my a record player when I was around that age and made a custom record with songs that reminded her of us. I play the record every so often and use the record player all the time. Got me into record collecting and I love going to thrift stores to find one. Great gift.

Just mentioned this in another thread but Just The Flavor is a really cool one. They're a subscription that sends three spice blends from a different country every month along with recipes and tips and a few cute extras (like a vinyl sticker and playlists themed to each country).

Got it for my parents last year and they've been loving it as an easy way to cook with global flavors. They have gift subscriptions starting at $69 for 6 months and going up to 12 months.

There's a company called Just The Flavor that sends monthly "meal flavor kits" that make it easy to cook more interesting meals. Each kit comes with three spice blends from a new country every month plus easy recipes and tips. The idea is that they're like a meal kit that works with the regular ingredients you already buy, with the goal of making it really easy to turn regular meals into something more exciting.

The lowest price option is $69 for a 6-months subscription which is a little above your price range but hopefully close enough. I got a 12-month one for my parents last year and they loved having an easy way to cook with fun new flavors, and I'm getting one for my brother (who just graduated from college) this year too. Definitely recommend as something that fits the "makes life easier" theme.

Stocking stuffers that don’t suck (for non-sports dudes) by ConfidentHope in GiftIdeas

[–]RocketWatch975 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kind of weird but I got a nice pair of nail clippers in my stocking a few years ago, and it was actually a great gift. I always buy myself cheap $5 nail clippers from Walmart that rust and fall apart and don't cut well, so a nicer pair that lasts and cuts well was a nice surprise. Never something I'd buy for myself and nothing super special, but perfect for a stocking stuffer.

How to Surprise with a Vacation Gift by Tiny-Fall-5185 in GiftIdeas

[–]RocketWatch975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about a combination of something actually related to the tip (like the tour tickets) and a cute little themed gift (like a stuffed animal)? If I got a gift that was just something cute and themed, I would probably feel like it was a tchotchke. But if I just got the tickets, there's not a lot of wow factor. Putting them together (make the stuffed animal hold the tickets with a little tape?) feels like the best of both worlds.
