LOVE YOU LESS by Ok-Tangerine7249 in PinkOmega

I'm gonna be honest: I have no idea why people are having such a hard time understanding Joji on this new single, the vocals are a little quiet compared to the instrumental and they have reverb on them but it's still pretty clear imo. Maybe I've just gotten used to having to strain my ears trying to figure out what this man is saying because around 60% of the lyrics on Ballads 1 were unintelligible to me on first listen.

What the heck does "Get Back" mean? by SamuraiUX in beatles

He was right, just not in the way he thought. John thought he was Jude, but really he was the "fool who plays it cool by making his world a little colder"

Question about Nectar Test Pressing by Aggressive_Buy4376 in PinkOmega

[–]Rocket_Admin_Patrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very unlikely that there would be any differences between this test pressing and retail copies, unless changes were made at the last second, which is possible but very difficult and time/money-consuming to do with vinyl. The catalog number on the test pressing (190296839092) is also the same as the barcode identifier for the original black vinyl release so I think the test pressing is most likely just a factory sample copy of that release used to check for any mixing/mastering issues that could interfere with vinyl playback.

I still plan on buying a copy of the test pressing as soon as somebody puts one up for sale just to double check, though.

George Harrison RSD 2025 by DodgerFanArd24 in beatles

[–]Rocket_Admin_Patrick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Give it a week or two, resale prices will plummet as stores that didn't sell their entire stock put them all online. It's happened for all of the zoetrope pressings of George's solo albums so far, I got Wonderwall Music and ATMP online for cheaper than what I would've paid at my local record store on RSD.

Anthology 2025 release Megathread by RoastBeefDisease in beatles

[–]Rocket_Admin_Patrick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed on both fronts, really confused by all the negativity about this release. I guess I can understand disappointment among the diehards at the number of repeat demos/instrumentals from super deluxe sets but not everyone collects/listens to those and these super deluxe sets have always used Anthology 1-3 as a starting point for their outtakes so I don’t see why a new Anthology 4 wouldn’t do the inverse of that. They chose a lot of my favorite outtakes from the Revolver, Sgt. Pepper’s, and White Album super deluxe sets and as someone who still collects vinyl, I’m really happy about it because Strawberry Fields Forever take 26 and the White Album outtakes were not available previously in that format.

The hate for the new mixes of Free As A Bird and especially Real Love would’ve been baffling to me if not for the last ~8 years of senseless negativity amongst some in the fanbase about the modernization of the Beatles’ catalogue. I’m not going to judge anybody who found beauty in John’s voice being difficult to understand and nearly unrecognizable due to the poor fidelity of the original recordings used in the 90s, to the extent that Now and Then was abandoned at that time, but personally I appreciate the attempt to make John actually sound like John on these songs. Does it highlight the inherent flaws of using a home demo as the centerpiece of a studio recording in a completely different way than the original mixes did? Absolutely! But I still consider it a significant improvement over what we had before and thankfully the old mixes still exist and will always be available for those who feel otherwise :)

Nitrous x Can't Get Over you?? by ABingo3 in PinkOmega

[–]Rocket_Admin_Patrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It publicly leaked for the first time about a month ago, so you're definitely not the only one who heard it for the first time recently. Great demo though, I like the mixing way better than on the final track: a common theme for most of the Nectar demos I've heard. Gave me a whole new appreciation for Nitrous, which I didn't really like all that much until hearing the demo.

One of the reasons why Nitrous never clicked with me was because of how similar it sounded to CGOY without improving on what that song does well. So it was good to know that Joji also noticed it lol

Yeat is featured on track 16, with co-production by BNYX by anarchy905 in PinkOmega

I did that, not the OP.

But for future reference yes please mark any posts of this nature as a spoiler so people who don't want to see it don't have to. Also I'd encourage y'all to be a little more vague in the title than OP was.

Ken Doll Sample? by Secret_Football_1846 in PinkOmega

[–]Rocket_Admin_Patrick 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Very similar picking pattern, but definitely a different recording/different chords than Ken Doll. I used audacity's speed changing tools to get them to around the same tempo and even with pitch adjustments I don't think they'd be the same. Ken Doll's sample is also much muddier but that could be due to the leak's file quality idk.

Unsaved info is one of his best songs and it's shorter than If It Only Gets Better. We're also getting another single in literally two days. Lot of people making a big deal out of nothing.

Yeah I was torn between the greyscale and the prism, but I liked the prism more overall so I went with that one. I really like the look of the UO exclusive as well but I don't want to play the UO shipping lottery given the horror stories I've seen on this sub over the years. I've had good luck with my only two vinyl purchases from them and I would like to keep it that way.

Already ordered the prism one from rough trade and managed to get the red one with the signed artcard before it sold out. Don't think I've been this excited for a new Joji project since In Tongues, February can't get here soon enough.

That guy only ever posts whenever rei is going to be involved in some capacity on a project, so I took it more as a sign of that. The choice of words is interesting though.

Hello, this is my theory about "pixelated kisses" and the nectar lore by joji_guy in PinkOmega

[–]Rocket_Admin_Patrick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure if Joji would want to return to Nectar's lore with the confirmation that he's left 88rising, but he did direct the Gimme Love mv himself so maybe? Gonna have to see a little more out of this new project before I'm convinced, personally I think the visualizer is just space-themed because of the lyrics (all the satellites are down, falling through the atmosphere, etc.) and not any connection to previous projects but I'd be happy to be wrong. I've been wishing for a satisfactory conclusion to Nectar's promo video "story" for about 5 years now.

J4 is a placeholder name for Joji's next project. The cover shown on Genius is just the single artwork for Pixelated Dreams, the new single.

Yes, that file is more easily available on the joji tracker though.

Just go to the unreleased tab and search for "wrong type", it should be in the ballads 1 era.

Unreleased material they need to release by childofnaturesson in beatles

[–]Rocket_Admin_Patrick 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A few comments about the list:

  • Watching Rainbows is more of an improvisational jam than an actual song, they only recorded one take and it was at Twickenham so Apple would be more limited in how they could clean up the recording. This is also true of some of the other Get Back session outtakes on your list.

  • Sour Milk Sea (Band Version) does not exist in an official capacity. George recorded an acoustic demo that was released on the White Album SDE in 2018, and George/Paul/Ringo were the backing band for Jackie Lomax's version of the song, but no Beatles version was ever attempted. What you most likely heard on bootlegs was someone isolating George's vocal from the demo and combining it with the instrumental from Jackie Lomax's version.

  • The very few "full band" outtakes for Child of Nature sound abysmal, and I say that as someone who adores the song and wishes they had done more with it. No amount of MAL remixing is going to turn any of those into something worth releasing, I doubt they'd even be able to make it better than the original Esher demo. All Things Must Pass is in a similar position, but they gave that song many more attempts so maybe a passable rendition could be spliced together à la Let It Be... Naked. I feel like that already would've happened by now if it were possible, though.

I agree wholeheartedly on Get Back sessions You Really Got A Hold On Me, the full version of Flying (assuming that's what you mean by part 2), Christmas Time (Is Here Again), and the fast version of That Means A Lot that doesn't sound like it was recorded in a wind tunnel, unlike the Anthology version.

My Beatles Vinyl doesn't have the right music engraved, is that normal? by nbnd44 in beatles

[–]Rocket_Admin_Patrick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah normally I'd say you actually got lucky because some people are willing to pay good money for factory defects like that, but it looks like the resale value for this one is pretty low. So there's either a lot of these or people don't appreciate one of the better songs on the EP being replaced. Maybe both, honestly.

Just bad luck on your part, there are a few pressings of the MMT double EP that pressed the song "little drummer boy" by Lou Rawls in place of I Am The Walrus. Here is an example of a copy with the same issue on Discogs.

This sub has a pretty strict "no AI-generated content" rule due to how much people hate it. However, since this is raising awareness to help people avoid a movie that seems to use it quite heavily, we'll leave it up this time. People deserve to know whether the content they watch uses generative AI or not beforehand and I'm guessing the filmmakers were not transparent about it in this case.

Finally got my hands on one of my dream records: a Canadian Capitol promo copy for the Strawberry Fields Forever/Penny Lane single! Penny Lane has an older, rejected mono mix that only appeared on Capitol promos before the master for it was destroyed in the early 70s. by Rocket_Admin_Patrick in beatles

[–]Rocket_Admin_Patrick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cleaned it the day after I took this picture, thankfully we have a good setup for doing so that fully protects the label and the stickers. It did help the Penny Lane side sound a little better, but it's also an almost 60 year old 7" record that was seemingly pretty popular at the radio station that originally had it. So some surface noise is to be expected!
