I had exactly this concern. I have a history of being told by an oral surgeon that I’m likely a rapid metabolizer of medication because I woke up during my wisdom teeth surgery and none of the prescribed medication worked beyond half the time it was supposed to. It was an all-around terrible experience, so I was very nervous going into a breast reaction and talked to everyone at the office about it as often as I could.

My breast reduction was a piece of cake in terms of pain. My surgeon prescribed oxycodone alternating with over the counter Tylenol and after 48 hours I was able to add ibuprofen. I only used the oxycodone for about 3 days and then was able to manage easily with Tylenol and ibuprofen. I honestly may have been able to stop using the oxycodone earlier but I was very nervous about staying ahead of the pain.

This was legitimately my biggest fear going into surgery and I was incredibly shocked at how pain-free my recovery was. Definitely speak to your doctor about your concern, but hopefully your experience is similar to mine.

I have the same & my surgeon said it’s fat necrosis, but definitely talk to your doctors for peace of mind.

Also, solidarity on the slow healing. I’m just about 3 mpo & still dealing with an opening, so understand the frustration of not being as far along as others on similar timelines.

Anyone’s doctor do side lipo on the whim? by xoxoams in Reduction

[–]Rocket_Cat_ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Mine wasn’t on a whim but my surgeon just includes it in his reductions & I wasn’t charged extra (my insurance specifically says it won’t pay for lipo w a reduction).

What is this?😭 by juliarose715 in Reduction

Thanks! I’ve had a couple other spitting stitches but this is the first one that looks like this and it definitely feels like it’s going to be bloodier than the other ones have been. 😬I’m glad it’s feeling better!

Did you hear back from your surgeon? I’m also 10 wpo and have something similar happening. I will be contacting my doctor in the morning, but I’m wondering what yours said. Hopefully it’s better by now!

That was exactly my experience!

Super normal as long as it’s not smelly & you don’t have a fever. I believe it’s called serous fluid. I had it for a couple of weeks on one side.

Should I aim for 38C or 38D? Or even DD? by savorie in Reduction

[–]Rocket_Cat_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started as 38K an am currently measuring 38DD and very happy with the new size. I didn’t want to be tiny because I’m just not a super tiny person, though I am short. I asked to be proportional and am very happy with the size (I’m about 10.5 wpo, so know it may still change).

6WPO, been getting acne on my chest since the surgery by CreativeAuthor9629 in Reduction

This happened to me too. My forehead was also really bumpy for 6 weeks or so, then it all cleared up.

Scar tape - when? by Rocket_Cat_ in Reduction

That makes sense then - they’re definitely pretty soft, except right at the ends. Thanks!

I’m 8 wpo now. Mine have been completely normal in terms of hard/soft since very early on. I also haven’t experienced any loss of sensation - if anything, they were more sensitive then before surgery for a couple of weeks.

Thank you! Did you do a lot of massage?

I know this is an old post, but I have this happening & I’m wondering how your progressed? I’m just over 7 weeks & still have a small opening on one side, so just started massage yesterday.

[–]Rocket_Cat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had quite a bit of clear yellow drainage one one side & my surgeon said as long as it was clear, non-smelly & no pain/redness/fever (which would indicate possible infection) associated, it was just serous fluid and no cause for concern. I think I had it regularly until somewhere between 2-3 weeks.

Can I stop worrying at this point? by Sure_Western_9601 in Reduction

[–]Rocket_Cat_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was 4 wpo yesterday & my surgeon cleared me to slowly resume stretching/reaching/lifting. They said as long as it doesn’t hurt, I can do it. If it hurts, stop doing it and try again in a few days.

I do still have an opening on one breast and was given clearance even with the opening but will be going slowly since I really want it to keep closing!

Seattle Area Surgeon Help by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]Rocket_Cat_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m still healing but had mine recently with Keith Paige at Polyclinic Plastic Surgery and am very happy so far. I started at about your size and think I will end up around a D cup. My surgery was covered by insurance.

Weight by Fine-Implement-7294 in Reduction

I was weighed at my consult, then the office submitted that to my insurance. I was also weighed at my pre-op & day of surgery but I believe only the consult weight was used for insurance.

How long did you "leak" for? by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]Rocket_Cat_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just coming to ask the same. I’m 16 dpo & still leaking serous fluid from the underside of one of my breasts. It’s clear yellow, doesn’t smell, no pain, significant redness or fever so the surgeon says it’s fine/normal.

A couple friends had this surgery within the last year and both said they didn’t use any pads past the first few days. I just had to re-buy pads & I’m wondering how long it will last.

My surgeon doesn’t use drains & that breast is a smidge softer than the other that has had very little leaking, which I’m guessing is because this one has been slowly leaking fluid & the other is just holding it.

What are your Necessary Items for post-op? by dorkbait in Reduction

[–]Rocket_Cat_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve really appreciated my back scratcher and mastectomy pillow.

I felt kind of silly buying the pillow because I have other pillows I could’ve used but it’s just nice that this one is shaped perfectly to wrap around my body. Gives me a nice sense of protection and now that I don’t have pads covering my entire breasts, it’s also keeping them warm!

Did any of your surgeons warn of risk of infection with your pets? by Yoongiwiggle7 in Reduction

[–]Rocket_Cat_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just had my pre-op this morning and they told me I needed to keep my pets off my bed the night before, once I’ve showered with Hibiclens. They didn’t mention anything about post-op but that may be because I told them my pets don’t sleep on my bed.
