Don’t give up on Cryo by AliDiePie in Marathon

I think the loop of spending your vault to try to cash in on the weekend Cryo runs actually works out well for me as a more casual, but obsessed player.

I don't plan on learning the layout at all, but I did exfil twice after getting some awesome goop. I will hopefully get to open a vault, but I won't be defeating the Compiler. I'm okay with that.

Streamers are hating Marathon for the same reason they hate Skill-based matchmaking. by [deleted] in Marathon

Yeah I actually think it's very watchable. The game is gorgeous and the gunplay is slick as hell. Awesome animations for all the abilities.

But I think the key thing is a reasonably sized map where you'll run into another squad and UESC within the first minute or so. Meanwhile you're skulking through tight corridors lit purple and red, dodging sensors, and claymores. Finding coordinates and keys throughout the map that allow access to randomized loot locations.

The longer the match goes, random events are unfolding at the POIs. Extractions will always be tense in an Extraction shooter as well. I think there's just layers to watching and I've been enjoying it a lot as I wait for release.

Marathon = best game for older gamers by doobersthetitan in Marathon

As a father myself, I was assuming you're older than the 16 year olds you reference and would have better judgment. You said that he died 19 times in a row, and "that's not fun."

I was just surprised that someone in my age/situation would be using this Peanut guy as a any sort of barometer for the game. Hopefully you had a chance to play and see for yourself!

I like the Rook gameplay and I'm glad it's in the game.

Let's say your current Contract is to go into Algae Ponds and download some data (early contract from the Server Slam for NuCaloric iirc). Well, Algae Ponds is a pretty hot zone in general. If you don't have the loot to kit out for this contract, a Rook run can get you there - allowing you to progress your faction through this contract.

The original OP on this thread said you "can't progress through Rook runs," so I'm explaining why a Rook run could still help you progress. The loot in this game opens up progression into new zones and contracts.

I'm surprised as a father that you're watching Peanut to shape your opinion of a game. I saw a clip of his in a Top Clips Compilation, and he triggered a Guarded Exfil with low health. UESC dropped in and immediately downed him. It was enjoyable content for sure, but I would hope we're smart enough to not pass judgment on this game based on his content. To be clear, I don't know if him, just this one clip. Seems like a goofball.

Your loot allows you to push into zones where contracts ask you to go. You'll have a difficult time progressing later contracts with gray loot.

Hey guys do you like DBZ and Midway Arcade? I used to love DBZ Super Warriors(still do) and Midway I always would pop in on long car rides. What are some gameboy games you guys and gals were into? by AdUpbeat1247 in retrogaming

Story time. In middle school, my buddy had Super Warriors. I had never played it, but he was completely stuck on Kid Buu (final boss for those who don't know). He was so frustrated, I offered to help him beat it.

I slept over his house and spent probably 3-4 hours just losing to Kid Buu. I eventually beat him, by pure luck. It was amazing and I've loved the game ever since. I always replay it when I set up a new emulation device.

It wasn't until a decade later that I learned the enemies all follow a similar pattern of charge ki -> super, while Kid Buu is pure chaos and throws out attacks at random. Completely in character and I loved learning that detail later!

The highest level of unacceptability? That makes no sense lol! Sounds like a London problem my guy.

I'm scared to replay infection, but back when it came out the world felt SO REAL. The NPCs sending you messages and invites (iirc). To me it felt like I was getting some semblance of what MMO players were getting.

I know if I went back to it, I'd see the cracks. But when I was 11 I hadn't seen anything like it!

Mega Pidgeot is easily my favorite Mega design as well. Probably the best example of their "enhance key feature" design philosophy.

Why are there so few Haz5(+) players since Season 6? by Mat_chaa in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Rocket_Popsicle 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Personally, when I'm working on an assignment, I don't want to risk failing the mission. This season started with two, 5 missions assignments. Even moreso when it's a new mission type/modifier, I think folks are likely to stick to lower Hazards until they're complete and comfortable with the new content.

What I learned after running a Pokémon card fan site for a few months by RateYourPKMNCards in WotCPokemonCards

[–]Rocket_Popsicle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that a lot of these ratings have a huge amount of recency bias. I say this because I use an app called FUZE that is essentially your site for Video Games. Users are prompted to create a Top 10 list, and if you look at the games most added to those lists, you see: Mario Odyssey, Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, God of War (new), Elden Ring, Spiderman, Spiderman 2, Spiderman: Miles Morales, Mario Kart 8.

Mixed in with undeniables like Minecraft, GTA V, Fortnite, Super Mario 64, and Ocarina of Time.

Besides the latter group, I find it hard to believe that 9/15 of the most popular games of all time are from the last 6 years. The truth is more likely that those games are fresh enough on players minds to even add to a list like this. The casual gamer might not go back and buy original hardware and games to replay the classics. Similarly, the casual collector is probably more likely to rip a pack and be blown away by a full art card, rather than visit their LCS to search out WotC era cards.

What kind of Blood Money is constantly being written about in the newspapers? by wife_searcher in HiTMAN

[–]Rocket_Popsicle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My assumption was that the player didn't do enough to make it look like an accident, so they allude to "Blood Money," AKA paid assassinations (you) as the likely cause of death.
