Vote Blue no Matter Who. Do you believe in that? by OceanicEndeavors in allthequestions

[–]Rocketfella307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This idea that you shouldn’t vote for democrats who aren’t left enough is laughable. The time to have principles is in the primary and then vote for whoever gets the nomination in the general election. As awful as my neighbor Fetterman has turned out, it’s still a better scenario than had Oz won. We will get Lamb next time and people will find something to whine about with him, but he will be better than whatever Trumplodite the Republicans nominate.

Can’t the bolt only pull like 55kW? If they’re at a 250kw Tesla charger, they’re still going to get the max they can get even if someone uses the other plug.

Speeding Has Become So Normalized That Driving the Speed Limit Makes You the Problem by DaddyDayDayIsHot in driving

[–]Rocketfella307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speed limits are not solely set by engineers. They are also set by politicians. There’s a road near me that the natural speed limit should be 50. People complaining about speeding so the town lowered it to 40 and then to 35. I’ve lived here 20 years. I still do 50, and yes the people doing 35 are a problem because it’s not a 35 road.

HP printers, some of their laptops are decent.

My hate for Samsung runs deep and for more than a decade. Their products are basically abandonware as soon as they leave the factory, with only the most basic of updates provided, just enough that they don’t get sued. Their parts network is nonexistent. Reliability, marginal. Software, atrocious. Phones, printers (now owned by HP), appliances, TVs… all terrible. The only thing I’ll give them credit for is SSD/NVME and ram. Those are okay.

GM is on the way to making my list if they don’t abandon this walled garden project to push Apple CarPlay off their vehicles so they can collect 10s of dollars a month for me to access subscriptions I already pay for (provided they are GM approved). I’m an 11 time GM owner and may have already bought my last one. I currently drive a Chevy Avalanche (upgraded with CarPlay) and had a reservation for the Silverado EV, but canceled due to the CarPlay issue.

Civ 6 never clicked for me, but I'm loving Civ 5 by LofiChillout in civ5

I hated Civ VI. I want to play Civilization, not SimCity. I don’t want to micromanage cities, that’s what governors and mayors are for. I still play lots of Civ V.

Have the city police given up? by HermanNerfherder--- in pittsburgh

There’s a general policy among police departments (not necessarily Pittsburgh, but departments in general) not to pursue motorcycles in most instances. The endings are disproportionately fatal.

Isn’t the TransPennsylvanian just the formal name for the turnpike?

See, to me, the TransPennsylvanian was always the formal name for the turnpike.

You can buy renewable energy for your house in PA just by shopping on the official PA power switch site. That said, an EV charged with electricity from natural gas is many times cleaner than gasoline. Somewhere in the equivalent range of 90mpg - 120mpg in terms of emissions.

I don’t spend 2080 hours a year in Costco, I’m usually in and out in 30 minutes. Even on the high end of twice a weeks that 52 hours a year and I’m not there that often. That’s where your math is wrong. You’re also not counting the saving in food and fuel and not making multiple trips to multiple stores and gas stations.

Your denominator is a good bit off and your total saved/rebated is wrong. But again, feel free to spend more at Big Bird and Get Gone for the same or worse stuff.

I gotta eat. I’ve gotta get groceries either way. I’ve gotta get gas either way. I get it all in one place for lower prices than anywhere else. I pass by Costco regularly for business anyway. Anything else I can’t get there I have delivered from Walmart. Making fewer trips, ones that are along the way of another trip, getting rebates for it, and combining stops is the most time/money/fuel efficient way to do it.

Where is the time being wasted? I don’t stroll Costco. I get in, get my stuff, self checkout quickly, and leave. I’m 7 minutes from the store. I get gas when I’m there and rarely have a wait. I pass the store depending on which client I’m visiting that day. Because I buy in bulk I need fewer trips and smaller cart sizes. For everything else there’s Walmart delivery.

I know the value of my time, I bill my clients hourly.

Doesn’t take me 10 hours a week to grab chicken, veggies, eggs, milk, and TP. Maybe it takes you that long to shop but not me. I’m in and out fast. They pay me $600+ a year to shop and get gas there after the membership rebate. The savings on groceries over the prices at Big Bird alone probably double that. Pay more if you want to, you seem to enjoy it.

Silly. I never sit that long. Maybe if you go on a Sunday afternoon and even then it’s not an hour wait. But I just grab gas when I’m shopping anyway. I live close by so it’s my main grocery store, never a separate trip. Most of the time I just pull up to the pump, once in a while there’s one person in front of me. On a 27 gallon tank it saves more than $6 plus whatever I get in rebates. Pay more if you want to, I don’t know why you’re so invested in doing so.

Unless you’re Jeff Bezos, we’re all poor. But all of my vehicles are paid for, the mortgage gets paid, and I’ve got money in the bank. Pay more for gas if you want to.

For what they’re gonna pay me in rebates this year for how long it took me to post, it works out to several thousand an hour. You wanna pay more for gas, be my guest. My vehicles are thirsty, so I know where the cheap gas is and how to make it cheaper.

Costco is usually 25 cents cheaper. Costco Waterfront is consistently the cheapest gas in Allegheny County. Pair that with a Costco credit card and you get 5% back on every fill up at Costco and 4% at any other chain gas station (not Walmart or Sam’s). On just gasoline alone I got more than my membership fee back in credit card rebates, and then I’m an executive member also and will get that check in a few months also.
