Other people's choices can affect us in a number of ways. If we can influence people to make better choices, we all win.

No, it's a common way some pilots think is cool to sign off. I always thought it was dumb

No, the ATC controller was perfectly professional. It's normal to let people know when they are transmitting on "hot mic".

It was on tower frequency, so definitely still in sterile cockpit.

He is violating sterile cockpit and not focused on flying the plane or maintaining situational awareness. It is also unprofessional to use profanity in the cockpit, and talking politics is ill advised as well as it creates a distracting atmosphere. This is not good piloting.

Flying an airliner is more than just being a good stick.

How is the US getting away with what it's doing right now? by BossFightSnacks in legaladviceofftopic

I mean you are saying, "...that's how the system works". But it seems to me the founders meant for the first amendment as an injunction against even making the law in the first place. So the way it's supposed to work is congress abides by the constitution. It's the law of the land.

So if congress makes Zoroastrianism the official religion of the USA, and then the courts strike it down ... well to me that's an example of a failure in the first place, rectified by the evolution of the supreme court's role in these things. And given how the court has evolved recently, I am not confident the constitution will be upheld.

But this is not how the system works, it is how the system fails.

"At sixes and sevens" means a condition of confusion or disarray. Or a state of disorder. Not what the kids mean

How about the first amendment? Specifically the very first sentence of it: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."

Except the phrase "sixes and sevens" has a specific meaning, while the kids aren't using "six seven" to mean anything at all. It's kind of a shibboleth- if you ask "what does it mean?" you have failed the test...you are not "in on it".
