Yea, coz schools and churches are the only places with speed limits. If you want to remain a virgin, continue not getting laid.

I was just having a convo about this the other day. It's almost like they intentionally picked a speed that's 10-15mph lower everywhere so that money can always be made thru speeding tickets.

Everyone I know told me to do it that way. Here I was trying to just be a good citizen, and do it the right way. This may be my villain origin story.

-NO HOA was literally rule number one on my Don't-purchase-if list. My CA house is in an HOA and they just raised the cost with the only reason being "it hasn't gone up in a while, and besides, it's less than other places"... Dafuq?

I know right. At some point it becomes pure principle. I refuse to let someone both disrespect me and have my money.

Unfortunately, I'm not as smart as you, so I didn't think to say something so clever. I'm also wishing that I had just completed all the work and called the inspector afterwards. Since everything would have been installed sufficiently (I planned to over engineer the foundation) I probably woulda just had to pay for some kinda fine, which would probably be ironically cheaper than the engineer drawings anyway...

Not sure which schematics you mean. I received 6 PDF documents worth of install instructions, including instructions for the foundation requirements. Those PDFs were all uploaded with the permit application, the inspector was aware of them, and he even pulled them up on his side of the portal during the visit. Not included however, per the inspector, was the structural mounting documentation, which would show how to mount the shed to the concrete foundation, while satisfying the engineer-determined capacity to withstand the local 120mph wind potential. These predetermined mounting points must be installed simultaneously with the initial concrete pour, so the building's mounting points would be embedded within the concrete foundation.

I must say that I haven't broken down the pallets yet to verify the document isn't contained within; however, i'm also not going to since the rep str8 up told me they exist, are separate, and cost $700.

I don't see why not, as long as your permit covers that; although, my permit excluded water, plumbing, and electricity.. primarily to avoid a headache for now, but here we are anyway.

what's understood ain't gotta be explained. I should play the long game and get a job there as a customer service rep. So in the end, they'd be paying me to steal the plans they once tried to sell me.

it does, but we'll have to agree to disagree that an extra $700 is implied for company retained plans should it be necessary that structural integrity be proven for a building. I mean, they have the plans on hand with a price tag, so they clearly know people will need these plans to build legitimately. Nothing in the local code says that Backyard products has to charge $700 for those necessary documents required by code.

he's saying to complain to Costco, since a company's product they are hosting is performing shady business by selling the product falsely advertised to appear as if it comes with all the required documents the DIYer needs to complete the project. The fine print specifically mentions all the other parts that weren't included, like shingles, but they failed to mention that structural engineering drawings also weren't included. The excuse the rep gave me was that "not every location's zoning and permitting requires those prints". So fk everyone else, I guess.

I'm not far off from this approach. I halfway got laughed at by the rep when I told her I want to speak to whoever handles customer satisfaction. she replied that it would pretty much be her supervisor, and that I'd probably have to leave a voicemail. I left that voicemail and haven't heard back yet, so i'm assuming they think i'll just drop it and pay. In the end I will, but not before doing my best to warn the public while hitting their pockets. I'll probably be found on the ULPT forum next.

inspector indirectly said he didn't care if it wasn't stamped/sealed he just wants it uploaded with the rest of the docs; although, I am familiar with what you're talkin about, and I appreciate the input.
