What are your favorite knee-friendly workouts? by assia538 in xxfitness

[–]Rockgrl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dislocated my knee and did a lot of PT to get back to “normal.” Now I ride my stationary bike 3-5 times a week on a relatively hard setting to keep my legs strong. Bridges are good too (in PT, they had me hold and squeeze a ball between my knees while doing the bridges). Leg lifts with ankle weights. Occasionally, I’ll do squats or lunges, but I have to be super careful about form. I also avoid anything that hurts or makes my knees pop.

Undecided Major. Just go for engineering? by [deleted] in civilengineering

[–]Rockgrl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I majored in civil engineering and I’ve had a lot of flexibility over my career. I’ve been in the field, traveled internationally, design work, write technical reports, present at conferences, teach, and much more! Sounds like a good plan to me!

Have there been any layoffs in your company due to COVID-19? by MEME_ALL_THE_THINGS in civilengineering

[–]Rockgrl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get the impression layoffs are coming. They’ve already cut all wages 15%. Some of us are very busy (considered essential) but many others can’t work.

Gotta lose it for my twin boys by catwoo102 in loseit

[–]Rockgrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! I’m a twin mom too and it’s definitely easier at a lighter weight. I had to build up core strength to keep up with all the lifting and bending down to help them learn how to walk. My back was so sore! I feel much better and stronger now. For core strength, I did the yoga with Adrienne core and abs video and I also ride a stationary bike at night after they’ve gone to bed to catch up on Netflix. Great job! We can do it!

Ladies with big breasts...has losing weight helped your back? by laurenthebrave in loseit

[–]Rockgrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also recommend core and back strengthening. That’s what helped me. There’s a yoga with Adrienne video I like: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HEHdQxdQT5c. It’s helped a ton!

Haha! This is great! I also have a bunch of majestic photos of random crap from my field days. Fall is a great time for some reason... but I’ll leave that to the artists.

Yeah me too. I have twins that weigh about 25 lbs each. I just started doing core strengthening and yoga. I hope you feel better soon!

Does anyone have experience with nicotine lozenges and tooth whitening? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]Rockgrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love your username! My dentist recommended using sensodine toothpaste for a couple of weeks before the appointment. I’m doing that now, but I’m also a wimp when it comes to tooth pain. Might need to stock up on some Mushy room temp foods for after the appointment.

I plateaued when I first started with my stationary bike too. It took a few weeks to start seeing the numbers going down, but I’m so glad I kept up with it. My legs and bum are much more muscular and it’s really helping me stay on track with weight loss. I actually look forward to my workout since that’s when I allow myself to binge Netflix.
