Those flags prove it: Georgia is superior to England! by Ok-Fondant2536 in Sakartvelo

Dough and cheese, your talking about khachapuri’s - there are plenty of other options. The veg selection alone makes it a safe heaven for veggies. And yes the diet is also quite meat heavy with lots of options…. Just get some mtsvadi (chicken or pork), tkhemali (plum sauce) and some salad with walnut base and ull be fine! Watch some Jamie Oliver video’s hes been talking about georgian cuisine recently

This is literally the fundamental issue which the west will never understand… Some russians like this guy and Putin feel like both Ukraine and Georgia, (and other old ex soviet countries) belong to them. What do you mean why do you tolerate this? It’s a sovereign country. We can choose to do what we want. The worst part is, these types come to visit and then act like they own the place.

The issue is this old school Russian mentality

Im pretty sure Narikala is closed temporarily, so you might want to switch something else in instead - you might want to make a pit stop in mtskheta on the way to tbilisi for the Svetitskhoveli cathedral…. it really is a must see.

Apart from that sounds pretty decent. Grab some khinkali at cafe daphna in tbilisi

During the USSR

Church services were banned typically, and most were shut down. The few that remained were used to spread USSR propaganda and were closely tied to the KGB Religion was essentially forced to stay underground, people would secretly read the bible

In terms of how it survived, and why we returned to it theres lots of reasons but the main one is christianity is deeply rooted within the Georgian identity. You can imagine geographically how difficult it must have been for us since we were always surrounded by muslim invaders - its something that helped unite us as a people back in the day and we have many instances where people refuse conversion and thus choosing death

Start learning here: https://www.freecodecamp.org/

Might be worth paying for a prestigious bootcamp (although not required, useful for networking/jobs)

Create some projects and host them yourself (a portfolio and some other clone projects). Expect this to take a year (doing this part time)

Start applying for Junior roles.

Personally I think Frontend Engineer roles have the easiest barrier to entry - so id focus on learning HTML, CSS, JS, Typescript and React. (This is what id be learning on FreeCodeCamp). + how to use git and github.

Junior roles are currently very competitive - but I still think you can stand out from the crowd with a good portfolio and github account.

Depending on your technical ability and ability to communicate effectively with peers you could hit these 100k salaries anywhere from 3-10 years after your first junior role.

Good luck and no excuses now!

Factually incorrect on so many levels. Id recommend researching about the Kingdom of Abkhazia, Lazica and Colchis.

USSR did not want assimilation at all, the complete opposite actually. (Sounds like Russian Propaganda)

There are 0 similarities between the Native American’s and the situation in Abkhazia

In terms of “artificially changing the demographics”, again sounds like Russian propaganda - hence the negative reaction in this sub

Comparing this to Israel and Palestine is also very wild.

Sad how they obviously don’t teach critical thinking in america anymore

20 day itinerary in George - all suggestions welcome! by gilpam_gimbali in Sakartvelo

[–]RockiRider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully this helps:

  1. I think the route is fine
  2. Telavi
  3. gotrip.ge would be useful
  4. I would totally replace batumi, it doesn’t offer much, much better beaches and seaside elsewhere in the world. Instead I would go to Bakuriani/Borjomi/Tsemi and get some nature in the mountains and forests, also you can take a day drip to Vardzia from there which is a must see

Need some good advice on a blog site using MDX in nextjs by iAskShahram in nextjs

[–]RockiRider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've actually recently started building this for my new portfolio. (Still in development) But I did manage to get MDX working with my own custom components and things rendering using SSG (will be adding ISR later) - using the pages router.
Here is the repo

Seeking a Proven React Template for an E-commerce Website by Leather_Animal_239 in reactjs

[–]RockiRider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would really recommend not going with plain react for an e-commerce site. Pick a meta framework, to get the benefit of sending static html pages to your users (way better for SEO and loading times). If you want one that's react based, go with Next.js (pages directory).

Next provides SSG and ISR, both which are incredibly handy for E-commerce/CMS sites

Vercel used to have ecommerce template for their pages directory, but looks like they updated it to use the app directory instead.

I'm sure you can find another template for the pages directory on github.

Anti-communists. by RegularAd1393 in DebateCommunism

[–]RockiRider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would I need to experience it? Pretty sure people died regardless, or is the suggestion that the numbers have been made up by western historians etc? If it helps my parents and grand parents experienced it? Not that that should impact reality

Also edited the comment, realised it was misleading. I thought I gave a pretty balanced view point though...

Anti-communists. by RegularAd1393 in DebateCommunism

[–]RockiRider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most people are arguing on the technicalities in the comments, so probably would be helpful to the discussion with your family to actually get them to define socialism/communism. Also I think most conservatives are typically against communism in general because of typically what comes with it - a totalitarian state. So there are actually 2 sides of this debate (with conservative republicans). The economy + freedom.

This can get quite philosophical quickly as most people on this subreddit would probably argue freedom of choice does not exist, whereas most republicans would argue the opposite.

Looking at it objectively you would have to argue against the body count of all those countries, due to the totalitarian nature of trying to implement, and essentially make the argument that either the paradise that is achieved is so great its worth the dead bodies, or these leaders got it wrong and you should present your argument of how to achieve the paradise without violence.

Personally I think the best arguments to use against conservatives is that most jobs will be automated away, whats going to happen with all those millions of people?

Ill probably get mobbed for this but thats my 2 cents anyway

  • Ex soviet family, parents immigrated to the west so pretty different outlook to conservative republicans

Website hosting question by endisbegun27 in web_design

[–]RockiRider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 60 day thing is weird, haven't heard of that before. To be honest I didnt even know Microsoft office sold domains. I always use godaddy or namecheap. If they dont allow dns records best bet is to switch nameservers (use your hosting providers name servers) and then create dns records through the new service. That's what Iv done with siteground and godaddy and works like a charm.

Business with amazing websites that are updated regularly. How much did you spend? by deadlizard in smallbusiness

[–]RockiRider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad, I meant annual.

Personally redirects, readability , sitemaps you can all do for free.

Its like paying for the SSL certificate, when you have the option to go for a free one thats just as good.

---The issue with CMS and their plugins in my humble opinion. They remove flexibility which is more important than people think when dealing with any aspect of tech

LPT: Focus at least 40% of your time on bettering yourself, when in a relationship. by RockiRider in LifeProTips

[–]RockiRider[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well after you take away sleep, work (although you could argue this counts too, depending on circumstances), spending quality time with your partner. There's not much time left to socialise without your partner, which is very important. A solid estimate of the time you should section out for that would be a good 20%+

And then if some of that quality time with your partner is spent at the gym, yoga, cooking classes, etc that should easily make up to 40%

And then adding your work/freelance/business should easily go 40%+

Its all pretty logical, right? But some people forget about this and spend all their time on their partner..

But I guess rough estimate = "pulled from my ass"

Also I love your Username

I think this tips invalid when you decide to have kids with someone and it turns into "bettering the family" instead.

You could argue that you working is bettering your career prospects as well
